Wolverine #24

Wolverine #24 is a great crossover issue. Percy manages to use Judgment Day to his advantage again while paying off a long-time plot line. Wolverine and Solem are excellent together, but thats a given. Vicentini and DArmata make an excellent team, and Petits letters are wonderful as always. A fantastic comic all around. ‘Wolverine' slashes his way right into the heart of Judgement Day in typical Logan style, as the series manages to tie together some of its dangling plotlines perfectly into the current mega summer event story. There is a lot to like about this issue that is rife with Logan style goodness and plenty of solid action and art that matches the bright shiny colors but inherent darkness that is Logan's life. The art is spectacular in Wolverine #24 and should have you on the edge of your seat from cover to cover. Add in the fact that Wolverine's foe Solem gets more page-time, and it's an easy pickup for fans of the Krakoa era Wolverine. Wow! This book is tremendous! I can't wait for the next chapter I absolutely love the direction this story is heading! I am such a huge Benjamin Percy fan! I love his writing style and how perfect he is for wolverine. Wolverine is Percy's favorite character and it shows in every issue. I hope he writes both wolverine and x-force for as long as possible

This is what'd happen if the Progenitor interrupted the first act of a hardboiled thriller. The ideas in play aren't particularly inventive, but they're laid out with admirable style. Terse words, frenetic art, and a good feeling of tension. Continuity ref: The Hellbride stuff happened in Wolverine #6 and X-Force #13.

I liked Solem in X of Swords, but there was a lot more of him here than I expected. This was still good and interesting, but I wasn't as invested here as I was with the previous arc with Deadpool or even the last few issues of X-Force. Hopefully that changes soon, though. This series was just at a high point with the aforementioned Deadpool storyline.

This issue didn't really do it for me. While it is nice to see some callbacks to older issues in Wolverine's latest run, it is really hard to match this issue up with what is going on right now with Judgement Day. At times it feels like it's trying to tell two different stories at once, with the Progenitor feeling the most out of place in the issue. It's times like these that having Wolverine involved in so many larger arcs across the X-titles and other books really hurts his individual story. Solem doesn't really help matters as his team-up with Wolverine really feels unearned.
