This comic is a fantastic example of how to use existing continuity and origins as a foundation for something new, and how to tell a complete story in a single issue. Read Full Review

Thor's turn on the What If? wheel plays out quite impressively thanks to a thorough and thoughtful focus on his relationship with Loki. Clear, strong art and a script willing to park all its characters in between heroism and villainy create a fascinating world. This first glimpse is thoroughly satisfying, and more than many hypotheticals, this one cries out for further investigation. Read Full Review

I liked the twist on the familiar. Characters act like themselves, they're just put in a slightly different scenario and suddenly the roles become reversed.

A very interesting what if. It's it wrong that I think the frost giant is a better father than Odin was?

Making Thor the orphan in Laufey's court still produces a Thor/Loki relationship very close to the one we know: Thor as the chosen heir and Loki as the untrustworthy trickster. This issue crams in an impressive amount of story in a good way, and the visuals are a slice above the average, too. I'd certainly be interested in following the premise into more stories.

This was pretty cool, and an interesting way to play the characters.

The story was good at first. And then Thor lose his first goal of sight for a stupid hammer. The story is sad for his mother. And I liked this Loki. The interesting part is that this isn't the watcher or the unseen who tell this story. This was a nice ending adding. Cover - Not really the character I find inside. So I was a little disappointed. Very good 1/2 Writing - There is two time in this comics. Before & after the Hammer. I love all that come before, less what come after. 2/3 Arts - This was good & do a great job for making us read it to one point to the other. 2.5/3 Feeling - Just not a little disappointed. So mixed. 1/2
