VENOM #11 is pure quality. From start to finish, this book is filled with dialogue and plot points that really resonate. Donny Cates delivers the best issue of this series, so far. Ryan Stegman and Joshua Cassara draw some truly beautiful pages. Read Full Review

    Horror DNA - James Ferguson

This presents a pretty crazy idea that becomes all the more harrowing with the understanding that the threat of Carnage looms in the distance. Eddie is going to have to find a way to work with his symbiote if he hopes to survive that, but how could he forgive it for what it's done? Cates continues to revitalize Venom, redefining the character from the ground up. It is a bold new take and I could not be more excited for it. Read Full Review

If you've ever had a major fight with a partner you'll relate to this story. You'll also know some fights change a relationship and you're definitely getting one of those in this issue between the Symbiote and Eddie Brock. Passions flair in this emotionally captivating issue. Read Full Review

Comics: The Gathering - Charles Martin

    Feb 20, 2019

When it starts, Venom #11 is all about cancer and the Brock family. That theme holds true at the end, but in between, Eddie ferrets out some huge, transformative truths. This issue does a near-flawless job of engaging the reader's curiosity and compelling continued attention. Eddie's next steps are unclear, but they show every sign of being unmissable. Another great issue of Venom that kept building and progressed the story in a meaningful way. For a book, without really any fight scenes of anything crazy for the artists to really sink their teeth into it looks fantastic and shows the ability of the art team to take a story such as this and make it look so badass. As with Donnys style again there was an interesting cliffhanger at the end that has me bursting at the seams to get my hands on issue 12! Read Full Review

Weird Science Marvel Comics - Branden

    Feb 20, 2019

The Venom series continues to move forward dealing with Eddie's family issues, while forcing him to confront the symbiote, and simultaneously sort out what is reality from fiction within his own mind. All that and the Maker continues to make his presence felt adding yet another layer of intrigue to this mystery. Venom always remains at the top of my reading list each month, mostly for its story consistency and beautiful art, I just hope we start to get some definitive answers about what's really going on before the book falls into War of the Realms and changes teams for a few months. THE GOOD: -Good god. What a fricking phenomenal issue. I'm not going to go through everything I liked, that would take too long. (I'm kinda short on time/busy, so expect shorter reviews this week), but just know I really thought so much of this issue. -First off the art. Ryan Stegman is a genius. That's all I have to say. -I would also like to say that Donny Cates is an equally amazing genius. Together, they are a perfect creative team. -At first I didn't get it when people said this was some kind of definitive run or something. This issue coupled with the last has made me recalculate that misjudgment. -I just loved the surreal, dream-like feel of this issue. Can we get more issues with this type of storytelling? I think more

Prelude: I've been loving The Abyss so far but for the different reasons then I did have for Rex. Let's see how Cates goes with this issue. The Good: I love how trippy what Eddie is going through is. I love Maker in this. The art from Stegman and Cassara is great. It really is interesting how the Venom symbiote is also relying on Eddie and needs him too. Screwed up with how he tries to keep Eddie but it is an interesting development. Holy, that cliffhanger. That was wonderful. The Bad: Nothing at all. Conclusion: This was a wonderfully done, emotionally and character based issue. I can see how this would annoy fans, but I personally loved it.

Some truly fantastic work from Cates yet again. There are a few retcons within this story that might upset some people but I thought it really added to the Venom mythos. An always consistent book from a consistent creative team.

I will give this to Donny Cates, his reveals are amazing! Great dialogue! Story was great and loving the artwork. Seems like Eddie and Venom have been fighting a lot recently, curious what will it will do long term wise on their relationship.

It's a great book! Liked the dynamic of the story between the two phases illustrated by Stegman and Cassara which made them feel seperate yet connected. Perfect to get Cassara in on this. His work is splendid. Mayer and Martin are still kicking butt. Cates and company are firing on all cylinders providing great suspense and delivery!!

While the Maker chops on Eddie and Venom, Eddie has a revelatory trip down memory lane and a confrontation with the symbiote. This is tremendously satisfying in itself. Words and art are rigorously structured; every tool is bent on evoking specific moods and making revelations. But I'm particularly impressed with the dread foreshadowing that spreads like an infection in the final act. Eddie's story is being carefully tweaked to build strong thematic bridges in anticipation of Absolute Carnage. I am so not a Venom/Carnage guy, yet thanks to the brilliant way the groundwork is coming together, I can hardly wait for the event.

Fantastic issue with a killer final page and art that just makes you slow down and admire it. There was the scene between Eddie and the Symbiote done with all red backgrounds that just captures all the intensity of this issue. The colors in this issue were for me really stood out! What can I say another good one 👌
