I agree the use of "they" over and over, took me right out of the story - especially when Han could tell that the assassin was a female.

Yep, and this is the first time I have seen Segura do this in his writing. Very strange choice. Espeicailly for this scene.

How is using the term "they" altering the English language? It is literally a word in that language. It works perfectly in the context of when it was being used. It is used every day for millions of people non-discerning of gender. It's not a political statement. Why is that problematic or is it just something that confuses small boomer brains who can't spell "especially", especially well?

What question? The English language (and all others throughout the world) state that word "They" regards multiple poeple not a solitary individual. I, for one, will not be altering the traditional version of the English language. Now go away.

The term "they" has also been used for a long, long time to refer to someone of an unspecified gender. One example could be "are they a boy or a girl?" Yes, "they" can refer to multiple people as a group, but it, just like many other words, has more than one use.

The first documented use of "they" in reference to a singular noun was in the 1300s per Oxford English Dictionary. And I say people like fzanca making these reviews ought to return to tradition like the rest of us.

They can mean a single individual - "They are over there". For gods' sakes you're supposed to be a writer! I also love how you edited that comment and not your own previous misspelling. But a deal is a deal, however poorly you defended your veiled bigotry, bye now! #neflix

They can be used where the gender of the individual is unknown but if it's known then it's plural. Martin says the assassin was clearly female so it probably shouldn't have been used but some feel it's offensive to assume someones gender because a few believe gender is a choice. Stupid sounding to me but it's newer belief and each generation believes their way is the right way. If it takes you out of the story or not is just how you feel but it's not really bigotry. CALM.

I guess you can google it. It has been changed RECENTLY to include nonbinary people as well because of all the uproar from certain people but until the last few years it didn't. Calling one person they is kinda the new made up thing here. Not really a big deal just true. As I said, things change and each generation makes new rules but you can't just change the past or the truth. I guess you can say traditionally it's true if it makes you feel better about it.

Anyway, this is all I'll say about it. Feel any way anyone wants it'll never be good enough. I'm done commenting or doing anything other than scoring comics. I see the same ol' faces on this site are still doing the same ol' thing and it's tiresome.

But I did Google it. Shakespeare used a singular they to refer to a man. It goes back that far. It's not something new and it's not about making new groups feel better about it. You're just wrong and clearly, your feelings are tied to that wrongness. May as well type out "sigh" while you're at it.
