Moon Knight #29 is an arresting penultimate chapter to this story, weaving action and organic character beats to tell a compelling story of a climactic battle. MacKays scripting channels the history and established lore of this era, using it as a springboard to rich and unique character beats. Working in unison with Sabbatinis dynamic pencils and Rosenbergs extensive colors, the book establishes just how important a strong foundation and room to breathe are for developing a successful and satisfying ongoing story. Moon Knight #29 keeps up the edge-pf-your-seat pacing from the previous issue as Moon Knight fights his way up the Mount to stop Black Spectre's doomsday device. There's plenty of action and urgency to pull you along, but some surprise twists are overcomplicated or silly. Read Full Review

Not as good as I hoped, but still really good. Sabbatini's art still doesn't match Alessandro Cappuccio, but it's not bad or anything. I'm really looking forward to his return in the next issue. Back to this issue, though, MacKay continues to put together a really interesting story here. The reveal of Black Spectre was done really well, in my opinion. All I can hope is that the next issue sticks the landing as we transition from this series to Vengeance of Moon Knight. Also, I almost forgot to point out the part where Zodiac uses his necklace to make Reese back away, as I thought that was a crazy moment.

This is still the best title that Jed McKay is writing right now. Tigra has been stuck on a pressure plate for two issues - not loving that. Zodiac fighting the vampire - that's pretty cool. Moon Knight takes out spectre only to find that there's a second one. I'm not that familiar with Moon Knight lore to know this guy is, however. Was he introduced somewhere else in thise series? The character from the end of the book was going by Sigmund recently. He was the guy talking with Zodiac in Issues 18 & 19. Marc tried calling him to warn him about attackers, only to see his apartment explode in Issue 20. He was also part of the Karnak Cowboys in the flashback sections of Issue 25.

The pace remains relentless, speeding toward a conclusion with slick action-movie dialogue and strong, sharp (but not too detailed) art. Like the last issue, there's one little point of corniness--Zodiac's sheer ego wards off vampires, huh? I was on the verge of being underwhelmed. This goes by so quickly that it seems to contain even less plot development than it really does. But I appreciate how elegantly that last-page reveal ties together almost a year of foreshadowing.

It's a good enough entry. Had some moments that set up the Finale. Some of the art was very distracting. There are some panels that I couldn't even tell what was happening.

Pretty solid issue. Knowing MK is going to die takes the suspense, and enjoyment out of it. Sabatini's art is enjoyable, and Rachelle Rosenberg deserves some praise for making this comic look great. It's on the dark side, but the mix of greens, blues, and yellows she blends in keep the black from being oppressive, and help Sabatini's figures stand out on the page. The story continues MK's assault on Black Spectre's HQ. Lots of action. Each member of the supporting cast gets a moment to shine, with the exception of Tigra, who stands around on a landmine, and needs to be rescued by Soldier (who, apparently, is a bomb tech, now). It's OK. Just OK. A lot of the suspense, and thus the enjoyement and excitment of this book is draine d off by the knowledge that Marc dies next issue, and the series is ending. This has killed off most of my enthusiasm for this title, which I had been enjoying until "Last Days of Moon Knight" was announced. Since then, it's kinda hard to see the point. I was wondering if killing the main character off and replacing him was just MacKay's new schtick, like Ewing's "Immortal ______", or Cates' "God of ___________ ". Should I be expecting the wholesale slaughter and replacement of the Avengers? Guess we'll know in about 18 months. The fact that the same thing is happening in Ghost Rider, around the same time, has me leaning toward it beng an editorial mandate. I can only assume that sales are sliding. Since MK and GR are both relaunching, the very next month, with the same creative teams in place makes the obvious cash grab from a new #1 hard to ignore. I'll finish out the series. I may check out Vengeance of Moon Knight. There's not much mystery there either. The telegraphed the identity of the "new" Moon Knight at the bottom of page 7 in this very issue. I wonder, what's his sign? more
