Marauders #5 is a winner. It has moments of great character evolution for Emma and Kate, Christian Frost and Bobby have some delightful moments, and even Storm gets a moment to show why she's always badass. "A Time to Sow" sets up plenty still to come " there's a real question of Shaw's loyalty, and it wouldn't surprise me at all to see him working with Homines Verendi to hurt his rivals in Kate and Emma. And the final page has a big reveal of two villains with a definite theme to them and a sense of utter ridiculousness that fits the book. The deeper we get into this series, the more fun and exciting it seems to become. After a slow start, readers will be delighted with the high-paced conclusion that offers a truly inspired plan to take down the mutants. In my opinion, this issue, along with X-MEN #4 will leave readers with a great deal to think about pertaining to our current society, its rules, and its validity. As far as X-books go, Duggan continues to make this series a must-buy for X-Men fans easily placing this book in the top 3 on the shelves today. Pick this issue up and add this series to your pull list if youre an X-fan. It may not be the best jumping-on point for a new reader. However, we are only 5 issues into the series. So, talk to your LCS and get those back issues fast! You wont be disappointed. Read Full Review

Prelude: So far Marauders has been my favourite Dawn of X book tied with X-Men. Now with it's fifth issue and penultimate for the first volume, Duggan will have to start tying everything together. The Good: I like how Kate and Emma are getting along. The organisation and structure of the Hellfire Trading Company is really cool. The talk between Bobby and Christian is interesting. I love the Red Keep. The Marauders are just so tactically well done. I always love it when our heroes are actually competent. Poor X-Desk Guy. On a serious note, loved both infographics. Lolli's art is amazingly well done. The Bad: Nothing. Conclusion: Another great issue for the Marauders. Things are heating up as all of the set-up t ies together. more

First of all this art is divine. Also, Emma makes every panel shes in so much better. “I wouldve utterly destroyed you” is one of Emma’s best quotes ever. Ugh I really wish Bobby and Ororo would play a bigger part of this comic though. Also, why did Gerry have to go ahead and remind us Bobby is gay. The Hellfire Club is still awesome. Didn’t enjoy Ororo killing that guy though. Like a couple weeks ago when Kitty chopped off a guys arm, its always been unlike these characters to be this violent, but in the end, I think this is what Dawn of X is all about: Taking these characters where they’ve never gone before

THE GOOD: -Another great issue. Marauders can't be stopped. -Bobby and Christian's banter at the beginning was really fun and well-written. -That scene with Sebastian Shaw was great. -I love Kate's personality. Duggan writes her really well. -Still really engaged in this series. Excited to see where it goes next. THE BAD: -The art was really uneven and inconsistent.

This book has spent pretty much the majority of the first arc setting up the main characters involved, with some action mixed in the middle as well. And it's been executed really well so far, this issue not being an exception.

Good lord, I forgot Pyro got that face tattoo a couple of issues ago. Either way, I thought this was another enjoyable issue for the series. I will say that I hope we get some actual exploration of why Kate being unable to travel through the Krakoan gates soon, other than the book just bringing up that she can't.

This is another issue supporting my belief that Gerry Duggan is a good writer with the potential to be great -- but we'll never know for sure, because he'll never slow down and really reach for the brass ring. This comic has some great ideas and great character moments, but also some clumsy prose and a very jagged pace. We dawdle endlessly in Hellfire Bay, shortchanging the action at the end and making the climax terribly abrupt. The art is likewise stranded shy of greatness. Some superb character work, but details (particularly on the ships) are often lacking. The match between Matteo Lolli and Lucas Werneck is excellent, though. Their styles blend very well.

Intro landed well and it was cool seeing Kate be worried about her mortality. I love the fuck you attitude this title has about it. This issue was the one to make this series kind of grow on me. The touches of pirate nostalgia are weird to me though, like really weird. ]. I liked the touches of screen tone and I thought the characters were drawn very well especially the design and facial expressions of Emma Frost, really felt like he portrayed her the way Duggan intended.
