You Don't Read Comics - Christopher Landers
Jan 13, 2020If youve been enjoying this story so far, Ewing and company arent showing any signs of slowing down. In fact, they seem to just be getting their second wind. Banner and the Hulks continue to evolve as one of the most complex and rich characters in the Marvel pantheon. Jan 12, 2020There always seems to be so much that Ewing is playing with for this series. Thankfully, he is doing it so well that it always seems to come together. And as always, Joe Bennett's art compliments Ewing script wonderfully. I mean, I wouldn't want anybody else drawing four giant monsters tearing down buildings and fighting the Hulk. While this issue is all about setup, there's ample attention paid to both the conflict between Shadow Base and Roxxon and the characters at the heart of it. THE GOOD: -Reads like a classic creature feature. So much fun. -Joe Bennett's art continues to amaze. -Dario Agger is such an amazing villain. I regret having any doubts about him. I'm also really interested in his plan here. -That scene with Leonard and Betty was great. -Jackie is a really good character. THE BAD: -I don't know. I didn't love this issue a whole lot, but there's nothing really wrong with it. Maybe I'm just comparing it to issues like New Mutants #5 and X-Force #5 this week that were so amazing, and absolutely deserving of the perfect rating. I don't know. I'll give it a 9.

Is it just me that finds the Bulls intentions confusing? Other than that what a great issue. I can't stand Doc Samson I find him obnoxious but Betty has been so much fun and her always turning when Banner shows up was perfect! Monsters looked badass!

Before it kicks off an epic Hulk vs. Kaiju fight at the end, this issue weaves some brilliant ideas between multiple characters and scenes. The kaiju fight is a trap and Team Hulk knows it's a trap -- and there are far more subtle traps extending further into the cast. Both parts are great, but it's a pretty big tone jump. It's like watching a good ballet and then watching Wrestlemania.

"It's a trap" From gruesome body horror, through environmental commentary to kaiju battles. I am very much fine with that.
