It's once the dust has settled that I've begun the realization that the Hulk is more than a supernatural being of vengeance he first appeared as in that first issue. Ewing has been planting the seeds that the Hulk has an agenda but I guess actually seeing it come to fruition is scary to watch. There is also the vision of the future that suggests that Banner and the Hulk are going to cause trouble for the Marvel Universe. I hope it leads to something truly terrifying. In the end, theres not one bad thing that can be said about this book. If youre a Hulk fan, its a must-read. If youre a horror fan, its a must-read. If youre neither of those things, you should probably still give it a try, because its just plain, excellent writing. Ewing is crafting a Hulk story that will go down in history as one of the bests. This is just half of the terror in Immortal Hulk #24. There's a whole second half that takes a cosmic turn and really freaks me out. It's amazing to see the many varied ways that writer Al Ewing can scare the crap out of me in a single issue. After conquering this world, it seems he might have his sights set for the far reaches of space. We all knew how this confrontation was going to end between the Immortal Hulk and Fortean Abomination, but knowing that and what would happen in the events of this battle are two very different things. Immortal Hulk #24 lived up to everything that was expected from these two forces clashing. This may have been an indulgence of two monsters smashing, but there was no denying that this was also this creative team having fun with the pure horror of it all that kept us at the edge of our seats. This title improves with every issue. I am so glad that there are still some Marvel titles that aren't afraid to be brutal. I love a good fight issue between two adversaries of equal strength and the good General seems to be another excellent antagonist for the Jade Giant. Hulk defeats General Fortean and springs surprising plans on Shadow Base. The wholly-satisfying finale of the fight is accompanied by a well-integrated b-story about the Hulk's allies, and the entire package is sandwiched between some epic cosmic horror that keeps the overall stakes pinned to the highest possible level. When I give 9/10s for issues in this title, I tend to say something like, "It's great, but it's not a payoff." #24 IS a payoff, and it's glorious.

Damn...Hulk throwing his own seared flesh as a weapon was insane....wow what an issue..Hulk becoming a villain..or something more is so badass. I just hope the pussy side characters don't stop him! Love where Ewing has taken us so far! What a ride!!

THE GOOD: -Joe Bennett is always improving himself. I think he's one of the few artists on a long run that doesn't decline in quality. -The action was a lot of fun here. -Damn. This may be the best piece of body horror entertainment since The Fly. -This storyline has gotten so complex without being convoluted. Kudos. -That epilogue was legitimately the best thing I've read in this series. It was everything this series has been building towards and was twenty times better than the actual issue. THE BAD: -There were just little things throughout the issue that slightly annoyed me. Not even enough to dock a whole point. Fortean ultimately being an uninteresting, goofy-looking villain, the Hulk's dialogue for the majori ty of this issue, stuff like that. more
