Hellions #7

Hellions #7 serves as a turning point for the team- no one trusts Sinister, and now a lot of the team is silently judging Psylockes defense of him as well. Wild Child and Nanny have become wild cards, vicious survivors changed from their experiences. Wells finds the sweet spot between humor and drama, and Segovias pencils get the points across with aplomb. Hellions #7 sees a team changed by the experiences of X Of Swords, and its a great look. The issue was merely set up, redirection, and regrouping before moving forward after the crossover event. That's not necessarily a bad thing but it doesn't make for an overly exciting issue. Read Full Review

Hellions #7 is a very good read and has some amazing art. Zeb Wells continues his hot streak on this title as it follows up X of Swords admirably. You can't say much more about the art for this book. I admit that I don't normally follow the Hellions title. Their role was so engaging in X of Swords that I decided to give the series a second chance. Unfortunately, they did not live up to my expectations. There are a lot of good ideas here but there seems to be a lot of characters and a lot of ideas that spiral out of control. So we only get mere glimpses of what the characters are going through rather than giving the space they need to grow. Read Full Review

Damn... Zeb Wells is making me re-adjust my hierarchy of favorite X-Men characters. Psylocke and Havok are already up there, but the rest of the Hellions team are quickly bypassing some of the more classic/traditional X-Men (and I've been reading X-Men since the 80's). When I care more about Orphan-Maker and his yet-to-be revealed power than I do about whether or not "old school" X-Men like Dazzler or Longshot ever return to the X-Men, that is some GOOD writing. I even find the total D!CK Empath to be more interesting than half of the members of the current X-Books.

Zeb Wells is great at writing team dynamics. Looks like we're gonna see some follow-up on Peter's powers teased in Hellions #3, and I can't wait to see the team deal head-on with Mr. Sinister's manipulations. This was yet another great Hellions issue and I hope this title continues to live a long and healthy run.

Another great issue. The consistent quality of this book is giving me anxiety because I'm fearful that the bottom is gonna fall out. Hellions is easily my favorite current X-Book (and I really like most of them). PLEASE Marvel- give Zeb Wells, Stephen Segovia, and the entire creative team raises so they stay with this book. (Shoutout to my girl Psylocke for her passive-aggressive "middle finger" to Sinister).

i really enjoyed this it was well written with terrific artwork. i am really looking forward to the next issue. i loved the connection to the fallen angels book i loved that series and miss it. hellions is great and so are most all the other x-books but i thought fallen angels was fantastic in fact i think i'm gonna take a moment and re-read them right now

The Hellions are up and running again with commendable speed. Next mission: Go boost Nanny's ride so she can make Orphan-Maker a new suit. Comes with built-in antagonist! These mutants are broken in the most delightful ways, the art is strong, and Mr. Sinister remains an absolute treasure.

Their return finds them more suited to live in a more harsher environment. Orphan-Maker’s resurrection process is halted, as he requires his suit to suppress his unknown mutant abilities which can not be allowed to manifest for reason which remain a secret. Before the mission can be underway, the Hellions demand answers from Sinister regarding their previou s mission but are held off by Revanche. We learn that Revanche’s loyalty lies in that Sinister has found a way to remove her daughter from Apoth (see Fallen Angels). As the team breach a Right facility in search of Orphan-Maker’s suit, they find themselves face to face with former X-Men foe, Cameron Hodge! I never realized that we have no idea what Orphan-Maker’s abilities are and now I am insanely curious. This series continues to crack me up, however I hope they don’t go too deep into Apoth and the Fallen Angels as that series was terrible!
