HELLIONS provided just enough action to keep readers intrigued in the story while developing deeper relationships with the characters, fortifying extensive growth between members of the team, and providing readers with some philosophical ideas to ponder for the future. Wells gives fans an easy read that makes sense while ultimately proving this team is for real. Hellions #8 is another example of why this is one of the most interesting of the X-Men books. It combines a good sense of humor with a lot of dark stuff, making the whole thing more palatable. Wells is the perfect writer for this book, and Segovia's art really makes his work shine. While this isn't a groundbreaking book by any means, it's very entertaining and a treat to read. Zeb Wells continues to prove why Hellions is the best X-Men title right now. This issue features great moments with Empath, Havok and Nanny; proving this truly is a team book and not just a Kwannon book disguised as a team book. Marvel, please don't cancel this title!

In just 8 issues, Zeb Wells has so developed and "fleshed-out" these (mostly) unknown characters that I have a sense of familiarity with them. Their actions and dialog don't seem random or forced (e.g. when Empath turned tail and ran, I thought "F#cking Empath, there he goes again"... as if I've know this character for years). Amazing and Brilliant! Hellions has easily become my #1 X-Book. Keep up the great work.

That was alot to absorb. By the end of the issue I felt like Havok. I don't care how much fan-service there was in the drawings of Psylocke in this issue , did she really have to throw up those robots? The antagonist being baited to do himself in was comedy, and proved Empath has a reach that extends past what limits he belives he has. And yeah, John's save of Psylocke was cool. And Nanny? Creepy as always down to the final panel. All the issue missed was Sinister's pomp, but that should be expected in the next issue. Havok really has to toughen up. - cvrthebard.tumblr.com

The Hellions retrieve Nanny's ship and blow up Cameron Hodge and his racist robots. They're remarkably effective considering they're all pursuing separate, often secret, often conflicting agendas. Hodge gets most of the melodramatic dialogue; the mutants are pretty terse. It's still a funny book, full of dry, sharp humor. The art is also well-polished. This is a great story told with speed and skill.

This book is just a lot of fun. I never thought this would be at the top of my pile but here we are. The continued follow up to the fallout from X of Swords is a fun read and I find myself more invested in these rag tag characters that I thought wouldn't work together but they do. Following the fun story is the very solid art that pops and is full of a lot motion and emotion. I recommend picking this up if you're into offbeat X-Men crazy violent weird story.

Unable to hijack his mind, Empath reveals Hodge as a robot. Denying this claim, Hodge orders the Smileys to open fire upon him, knowing their AI would prevent them from causing harm towards the true Cameron Hodge. Riddled with bullets and the truth, Hodge is terminated as the Smileys thank Havo k for freeing them from Hodge’s control. Under orders from Krakoa, Revanche downloads a virus into the Smileys main server, eradicating the evolving artificial intelligence. As Havok struggles with their actions, Nanny embraces a secret discovery, a baby Smiley, now an orphan in need of a nanny. I’m pretty shocked at the act of genocide just enacted here. Especially under order from Magneto, a Holocaust survivor. This reminds me of Xavier ignoring Danger becoming self aware. This is probably one of my favorite X titles as the moment. Zeb Wells’ writing is intelligent and filled with great humor and the artistic team nails it. I want more Scalphunter. He’s been my favorite character, and since he’s spent the majority of his existence being written as a villain, he’s essentially a blank slate for a writer to run with.
