So, to tally things up: The FF are back on regular Marvel Earth with a new home; someone else is living in their former digs; The Future Foundation has withdrawn into the subplot, making our team once again the Fantastic FOUR; and Ben and Alicia have moved up the wedding date. And coming up along with that, we have Dr. Doom and Galactus in what I surmise will bring new twists to familiar stories. If we can just keep up the quality of the artand have people draw the Human Torch and the Thing correctlythe current stories of Dan Slott just might make it a great time to be reading The Worlds Greatest Comic Magazine! again. While I found the plot for this issue questionable at first because of the introduction of the Fantastix, Fantastic Four #4 quickly found a way to serve its purpose for closing one door and opening another. I look forward to what the future holds for this family when they aren't simply going back to their old life. In Fantastic Four #4, it's the new status quo, the new story leads, and the character relationships that impress rather than the immediate conflict with a very silly band of imposters. Back planetside with a new home and a thinned-out roster, the Fantastic Four are poised to make their mark again on the 616-Earth. They just plan to do it from an apartment building and not a super high-tech laboratory. They have done it before, they can do it again, right? Dan Slott has not come out the gate running. In his first four issues, he has proudly proclaimed that he can do muddled and directionless Fantastic Four comics with the best of them. They're not awful. They're what any regular reader of the book would expect on average. It's just a bit of a letdown that three years of waiting culminate in a book as unremarkable as this one. The idea is good but the execution is lacking. Slott needs to get going here. The art on this book is not helping. Pichelli to Caselli to leon in 2 issue is too much. Caselli is great as always but Leon is lacking in detail which made the transition jarring.

I didn't like this issue as much as the previous ones because there's not much exciting about the Fantastix. The stuff with the heroes returning home was more interesting, honestly. Getting the Future Foundation out of the way is a step towards a more classic Fantastic Four, which is definitely my favorite Fantastic Four. It seems things will finally settle down after this first arc and the wedding and we can get to more exciting FF stories. I'm excited for the wedding, of course, but I'm probably more excited for what comes next. Although, is it really this issue at fault? What comes next is Doom vs Galactus. You can't get much better than that...

Issue was very wordy and for me that is an issue. Although it did have some great funny moments. Art was ok. Enjoyed the dialogue but again wish it was less.

"The all-new Fantastic Four!" It's 4 issues in and I'm just mildly excited for this book. Maybe now, that they're back on Earth things will start looking up. I hope they will.

THE GOOD: -I liked Stefano Caselli's art a lot. It captured the tone of the issue nicely. -This issue shows Dan Slott's talents for writing pretty much any given Marvel character excellently. -I will admit, I did not see that twist with the Fantastix coming. -I think Brainstorm was a really strong character in this issue. -I enjoyed the end of this issue a lot. It is a solid end and also introduces an interesting new headquarters for the FF. THE BAD: -I do wish the wrecking crew had a bigger part in this one. That definitely would have improved this issue. -I actually disliked the Fantastix. They just kind of felt like they were in this issue to fill up pages and occupy the time while the creators cook up their 65 0th issue spectacular. -I dow ish they could have spent less time saying goodbye to everyone, and more time on the actual story of this issue. -Nico Leon's art was not great. It was not nearly detailed enough. This looked especially bad for The Thing. more

A mind boggling mediocrity. Readable, but resembles an episode of Scooby Doo. The FF are back in the Marvel Universe and we get the Wrecking Crew and a bunch of D listers called the Fantastix. One of the biggest problems of the FF before their hiatus was too much Franklin and Valeria, and now Slott has made the horrible mistake of aging them 5 years. So what do we get? Archie? Superficial characterization and forgettable art add up to a disastrous issue.
