Tomasi usually takes a few issues to get going, but from my experience it's usually worth it. (((((SPOILERS)))))(((((SPOILERS))))) for the Death of Leslie Thompkins(((((END SPOILER)))))))) it really needed to take up most of the issue.

I think it was very out of character for Leslie what she told Bruce, because she never was fine with him being Batman& using violence against others. That felt pretty wrong to me& I'm really sad about her death. She was one of my favorite batfamily member.

it really depends on who's writing Leslie. more Silver & Bronze Age stories stories she was a very nurturing mother figure for Bruce. it was the more modern tales where they tried to pit her against Bruce's war on Crime. but i can really see why Tomasi chose to utilize the more warm version of Leslie in this particular story. if you recall from Tomasi's first issue of (2011) Batman & Robin, Bruce wanted to try to step away from all the darkness in his life.

You are right,, but Leslie also was warm towards Bruce when she criticized him for being Batman. She did that since the late 80ies& throughout the entire 90ies until War Games, so I think it's an inconsistency with her character. I've actually never liked when Bruce did that, because revenge& hate always was part of his character. As for me I'm glad DC went back to Bruce's dark side like in Hills Detective Comics story for example. However her death sucks so much.

it's all subjective i suppose? i don't mind Darkness in a Batman comic. it's why i'm attracted to the stories. but i really don't care to see Bruce completely consumed by it. i absolutely love the sequence in 52 when the Ten-Eyed tribe vanquished the darkness from him, as if it were poison. he was still the Dark Knight, but he was also running at optimum. very cool and calculated.

i was really thrown by Leslie's death. i really wasn't expecting Tomasi to do that. especially in his opener. but i was very pleased with how he handled Bruce's reaction towards it.

Yes, but I personally didn't like New52 comics very much. Some of them were good, but there were so many bad stories. I prefer what we currently get over anything back then. I still hope it's not true with Leslie, but yeah Tomasi wrote it well ( apart from her attitude towards Batman).

99.99% of New52 stories were trash! the only ONE series i absolutely loved was Batman Incorporated. and that was pretty much just a pre-new52 story with the cursed New52 veneer. Tomasi's B&R was decent. it was the best Batman title out of the relaunch. though it was not without it's out set of flaws. but i did enjoy that one best of all till Batman Inc showed up. i guess time will tell with Leslie. i really didn't think Tomasi would pull the 'death' card. especially with all the HiC misery.

I hope so, but he is just a mediocre writer for me. The Dark Knight and Gothtopia were my favorite New52 run/ story. Arkham War was ok, but had many flaws.

Don't think Batman Inc. was part of the New 52 lineup.

i honestly wish Batman Inc had not been part of the new52. it makes reading the tail-end Grant's run very jarring. but in Batman Inc #13 there was a really cringey line forced in with Gordon mentioning the 'Zero Year'. plus right after Damian died in issue #8 all the other Batman titles had their Robin Requiem.

You should read the comic before commenting on it.

I thought it was OK too, but the "Bros before Heroes" line was pretty lame. The full page of Lois in panties was ridiculous. I like the Batgirl stuff, and I always love Batman giving crap to Superman.

Batgirl vs. Harley parts were not good at all.

King hasn't written Batman well ever so this is at least in character for his bad writing I guess. But yeah, the entire thing is bad.

as much as i enjoy her character, i am really getting sick of Harley Quinn. she's being written totally overpowered, just like when Catwoman one-punched all the dang Flashes. i really hope King never EVER writes on the main Flash ongoing series! Barry would be dead by issue #2!!! ...killed by Kite-Man.

I only like Harley Pre52, in the animated series& in the Arkham games. I can't stand her in New52/ Rebirth. With Flash it seems some writers like Johns overpower him so much, others like King underestimate him.

agreed. Harley was best in her original inception from BtAS as well as early comic appearances. the New52 pretty much ruined her. yeah. i really wish DC Editorial would do something about certain writers overpowering characters in one story, while other writers punk them out under different titles. it doesn't make for a smooth read when you go from series to series. very jarring!

Exactly and if they at least made it believable with giving characters a real plan or Special powers, but with Harley ist just one Punch, that knocks out everyone.

Not happy with what they are doing to Harley. But "pure garbage?” Really? It's not great but I have read much worse.

it's the amount of fanfare that DC is heaping upon this title that makes it so much worse. they are totally overselling it, and putting way more importance on it than it deserves.

In my opinion, definitely, but you have to be a fan or at least understand Grant Morrison's writing.

what the hell is your problem with me posting a score an a comic that didnt get rthat many scores when it was originally came out, people give thoughts and recomendations on media that came out a long time ago all the damn time, why are my opinions suddenly worthless just because the comic is more than a year old

I like whedon's x-men and legitamtley didn't like Kim and Kim and wanted to give my thoughts on themdeal with it

and for the record, because of rising comic book prices and my ow financial situations, I rarely read comics issue by issue and usually just borrow trade paperbacks from lending libraries, which is why i score older comics more than newer comics

What kind of problems?

Angus, Gail Simone is a very talented writer. Her best being Birds of Prey, Wonder Woman, Red Sonja and Secret Six.

She can write well, but like a child she targets people with her jokes, only one group of people. She would never write a joke targeting a progressive. Liberals and conservatives are evil, we get it. She can only write her beliefs as positive. Limited but if you agree with her narrow view of righteousness then it must be great to see the same belief system pop up in much of entertainment.

My family and I escaped to the other side of the planet unwillingly to avoid this type of thinking so it is jarring to simpletons like a dumb middle easterner like me.

I said it in my comment, her comedy targets people. I read comics with my cousins (large family and I am the oldest in my 30s). We get on skype or hangouts and read them as few times a week since we have to live at different ends of the country. Writers like Johns, Tomasi, and so on seem to try to entertain without targetting anyone with their humor. Gail Simone targets ALL who oppose her and I guess she does not realize that she paints herself into the corner, not us.

When 6 out of the 9 of my family/friends comics group wont read her, it is on her. She does not understand nuance. It is straight to 3rd wave feminism. Misogyny jokes and so on. The teens refuse to hear that and endless make fun of it. The 20 somethings just laugh and let it go and me being in my thirties just wants to avoid it so I don't get fired at work.

But I keep giving her chances to just write a decent a comic without that stuff. And we can't go there. Her Tweet Bird/Sylvester/Catwoman comic, another waste of 5 bucks had to jam the jokes in there so another issue I am stuck with no one in my group wants to discuss. Perhaps we are just on the wrong side of history like tells us.

Anyway, I hope you do enjoy her comics. I am probably not going to give her any other chances since the big part of the fun is my family getting together and discussing them and she just cause fights between the 6 people who totally disagree with her, the 1 person who thinks like her and wont let it go and the 2 of us that don't care about her agenda since it has been disproven on various points for years.
