" Then take me to your hell. Elizabeth Braddock was the hero. I was the shell. I can teach you about war, Cable. I can teach you about rage. But goodness I'll have to learn from both of you.

Psylocke's quest to hunt down Apoth continues with the help of X-23 and Cable. I still enjoyed this issue but I'd prefer if the focus was on Kwannon and Laura only. Cable feels out of place here.

Kudranski... My worst enemy

Nov 27, 2019
THE GOOD:
-It certainly pales in comparison to the other two X-books this week, but I thought this was pretty good. Yet another improvement over the first issue. I never thought I'd say it, but I'm really in love with this new X-Men relaunch.
-The flashback is way more interesting than the main story. Also, even sucky art can't ruin those action sequences.
-The dialogue was way better here. Hill definitely found his groove;
-The characters are a lot better here. I still think they need improving, but they had much more actual depth.
-I'm moderately interested by the end. We'll see how it goes.
THE BAD:
-God, I hate Kudranski's art. It's just so stiff and it sucks the life out of a pretty interesting story.
-This s
tory just doesn't interest me. I appreciate all the other X-Books for each scratching a different itch. X-Men: Main Events, Marauders: Fun Adventure, Excalibur: Fantasy, X-Force: Political Thriller, New Mutants: Space Travel. This doesn't really have that. more

A step up from the previous issue. I did enjoy it.psylock is getting much needed development, however trying to make her a master for both Laura and cable can come off as them being inexperienced children by comparison. There is good potential, I want love it , the story is here but all these little things add up, this team dosent feel like a team yet.

"The world has already fallen"
This book is like the intro to the Titans tv series. It just screams "Edgy! We! Are! Edgy!" over and over again with its talk about anger, rage and with its nasty art.
But unlike Titans, this book doesn't make me roll my eyes every couple of minutes.

Prelude:
Fallen Angels had a passable start but it desperately needs to improve otherwise I will lose interest in it. (Look, I'll still review it, I mean I'm still reviewing Bendis' Superman aren't I?)
The Good:
I'm still interested in the overall story and idea.
The Bad:
Kudranski's art was poor in this issue. It might be the inking but it just looks worse.
The infographics here don't work for me.
Dialogue and characterisation is still off.
Conclusion:
While I remain interested in the story and premise, the poor art, infographics and characterisations do make this a harder read.

It's fine, but nothing happens here, and the artwork is just ridiculous. The writing is still pretty strong, so I'm hoping for some improvements soon.

The art here really bothers me. I feel like this artist should only ever draw Punisher comics. His art worked there. It does not work on Action Comics or Fallen Angels. The dialogue here is also a bit too... esoteric, for lack of a better word. And the plot has fallen off as well.

Hill is taking his sweet time on this one and Im not sure that it is to his advantage. This story is interesting and I found the flashbacks and psylocks inner turmoil to be a real page turner. The art however is painful to even look at. It is so weird to have these annoying Windows 8 graphics on random borders for panels, while the colors pop and work the over all design choice chosen by the artist feels again Cheap to me, childish and cheap.. Im Not sure Hill has enough with this story to bring this title any attention. I found this issue equally as forgettable as the first but the art has somehow gotten worse and is maybe the most memorable part of this whole experiment thus far.

Fallen Angels was my most anticipated Dawn of X title. The hype wasn't over any of the characters or the pitch. I'm a huge Brian Edward Hill fan and after his run on Detective Comics and Killmonger the Idea of the creator on an X-Title just seemed like a money move.
Fallen Angels is shaping up to be the first misfire in his catalog, at least in my eyes. The first issue was a mixed bag that ended up being a net positive. This issue devolves into a mess by the end. The biggest problem with the issue is the art direction. The book is way too dark. I don't mean tonally. What I mean is that you can't make out what's happening on some of the pages. I know the choice to keep the lighting dark is intentional but it takes away from the story. T
his is especially true when you're trying to make out what's happening during an action sequence.
The script also feels a tad pretentious. Its almost as if every line of dialogue is supposed to be deeper than it actually is. It worked in the last issue with Sinister. He's a theatrical character but when every piece of exposition feels overly dramatic it veers into a writer being self-indulgent.
The comic focuses mainly on Kawanna's (Psylocke) interactions with X-23 and Cable. She's cryptic and mysterious throughout the comic. These scenes are interspersed with flashbacks to Kawanna's time before her life with the X-Men. These sequences are lit so poorly I almost missed that the character we were following was Kawanna. These are the most interesting parts of the book but are held back by the art and really overblown dialogue.
You combine all of these elements and it feels like the series is a bit superfluous. Fallen Angels is currently on hiatus but I think it was canceled based on the premise not having enough gas to sustain a series. We're two issues deep and I'm already bored and asking what's the point? It may turn into a solid series before the end but I'm not surprised at all that it's been canceled. more

Psylocke relives her morally-shady past and accepts that she needs to learn heroism from her partners as much as instruct them in badassery. First up: Following Cable's lead on a nasty Overclock cartel. I respect the shape of the morality play the creators are laying out. But the pace is slow and the storytelling (words and art both) is painfully pretentious.

Fallen Angels continues to distance itself from Dawn of X. Not only in terms of story, but also in terms of quality.
The edition lacks in different points, art, writing and character development. The art is dark, with frames displaced on parts of the characters' faces, the stories are uninteresting, both from Kwannon's past and present, and the characters, especially X-23 and Cable (who are so strong) are poorly written. X-23 is called Wolverine.
Regarding the villain, no one cares about Apoth and his disproportionate strength makes no sense. I don't know where the story is going, but with such interesting things happening in Dawn of X. I don't see the need to follow this title.

Damn this the first Krakoan X-book I'm going to be dropping. I'm just not following what's going on here and I don't think it really relates to other titles from the X-Relaunch, so I won't be shedding any tears over it. This just wasn't for me.
