But Why Tho? - William Tucker
Apr 14, 2021Daredevil #29 shows that this series keeps getting better. Within this comic is a lot of characters, fighting and surprises, but each scene is purposeful and atmospheric. Zdarskys script is full of poetic dialogue whilst Checchetto and Menyz creates stunning and energetic fight scenes that make the heart pump. And the war for Hells Kitchen continues to be waged in secret. Read Full Review

Weird Science Marvel Comics - Weird Science Jim
Apr 14, 2021Daredevil is my favorite ongoing series out right now, and this issue should be able to convince anyone why. Chip Zdarsky's character work shines, and while most writers try for big wow moments, he goes bigger but in a way that doesn't feel forced. Everyone should be reading this book. Read Full Review

Apr 14, 2021Daredevil #29 is a great issue that drives existing characters forward while fleshing out new ones. Plus, a villain is returning, so that is going to spell disaster when they are up and running. Matt has to hold his own and find out who wants him dead"if he isn't already! Wild mix of drama, mystery, and action as only this DD team can do it! Read Full Review

Apr 14, 2021Honestly, I was not even planning on reviewing Daredevil #29, maybe not even reading it until later on. But man I am glad I decided against that. Zdarsky pulls me in once again with some fantastic plot points and setups and delivering a comic full of the storyline and engaging character drama. Checcheto never disappoints and art and it shines once again in Daredevil #29. This run continues to just keep surprising me and it does not look like it is slowing down anytime soon. Another perfect Daredevil issue from Zdarsky and Checchetto. The book transitions so well between Matt, Elektra and Fisk's stories.

This was a crazy good issue. Chip Zdarsky juggles all these characters so well. I just... can't wait for Elektra vs Bullseye round 2.

One of the best issues of the series yet as Zdarsky juggles and nurtures 4 different storylines about these characters. Cant wait to see how this develops and ultimately comes together

Phenomenal issue. I’m really enjoying Matt’s story in prison and that fight outside was epic. Zdarsky writes a great Matt Murdock and his inner monologue is always amazing. Elektra shows Alice what’s up and she’s doing it in style. I adore everything Zdarsky is doing with Elektra. As far as I’m concerned, he’s the best Elektra writer. Fisk story is coming along nicely as well, as it revealed that he’s working on a new plan to kill both of the Daredevils. One of the plans involves Bullseye which mean we might get Elektra as Daredevil vs Bullseye and if that happens… oh boy, that will be good. Last but not least, Mike and Butch’s plan to take over the underworld is also coming along nicely for them. Not gonna lie , I started to fear that plot thread might go nowhere. Happy to be proven otherwise and I can’t wait to see how Mike is gonna use his “new†identity to achieve his goal. The way Zdarsky manages to tell 4 different storyline in one issue is a testament to how great of a writer he is. The pacing is tight. And of course, the star of the show, Marco checchetto, is as brilliant as always! more

This one book whose quality is excellent and manages to keep it that way. The pacing, artwork, dialogue, character selection remain great. Matt's time in prison just hit a low, while his twin-brother Mike (did not know he even existed) is using the opportunity to further his own criminal agenda. Elektra is drawing too much heat, but has good intentions. Still, the road to hell is paved with good intentions. The way she going about mentoring that girl and protecting Hell's Kitchen things will go out of hand I garantuee you.

Hell yeah : another prison fight ! And I know Elektra's holding back, but I want a little more violence from her in that costume. I wish that girl she picked up from King In Black would just go away. And the mafia storyline, is common for this title, but not particulary appealing. Those prison fights are just too good. Honestly, Elektra should just hang up the suit , bequeath the kitchen to Power Man & Iron Fist and Zdarksy could then just focus on prison Daredevil. While Matt fields a prison assassination attempt, Elektra-Devil contends with Izzy Libris for control of the Kitchen. And Wilson Fisk has schemes of his own. The plot developments are well-executed if just a touch decompressed. The character work is solid if not ground-breaking. And the visuals, as usual, are a treasure. This issue falls into this title's usual sky-high groove: It's great, but past performance reminds us that this creative team can do even great-er.

Another solid issue all around. Far be it from me to criticize Marco Checchetto's work...but the only small nitpicky gripe I had was that for whatever reason, Alice looks like a 5 year old in every panel in this issue for some reason. I don't know why, but she just looks so small compared to Elektra.

Another good issue that manages to balance several different stories without feeling too rushed. I actually didn't mind Mike Murdock's scenes this time. Looks like Fisk has something different in mind for Bullseye other than the tired back and forth of hiring Lester to kill DD and constantly fail. Elektra's scenes are great as always. And just in case Matt hadn't reminded himself enough already (or if the reader somehow didn't realize yet), we have our mandatory reminder that Matt is STILL a man of God.

Daredevil Volume: 6, Issue: 29 “Doing Time, Part: 1†Publisher: Marvel @marvel Writer: Chip Zdarsky @zdarsky Artist: Marco Checchetto @mchecc18 Colors: Marcio Menyz @mmenyz Letters: Clayton Cowles Cover: Marco Checchetto & Matthew Wilson @colornmatt Taking a young girl under her tutelage, Elektra shows Hell’s Kitchen what true strength looks like in her war against the new Kingpin of Crime, Izzy Libris. Elsewhere, Mike Murdock and Butch Fisk make moves to bring down Izzy’s organization from within. Preparing for the future, Wilson Fisk visits a secret lab at Ravencroft where Bullseye has been revitalized to be Fisk’s perfectly controlled weapon. Meanwhile, while fighting side effects of a poison coursing through his b ody, Matt is led into an ambush. Doing his best to hold off a horde of attackers, Matt falls to a stabbing to the gut. As he slowly fades, Matt can faintly hear the pleased voice of the warden communicating his death over the phone. Every issue of this series has been outstanding. Beautiful artwork and a story that keeps you captivated every turn of the page. I absolutely love Elektra stepping into this role and hope she continues for a good while. Daredevil lost my interest for a few years, but this creative team has catapulted the title back to the top for me.
