While Kelly Thompson's wholeCaptain Marvelrun is good, this arc is easily one of the best, and it's sad to think that it's probably half over. Read Full Review

But Why Tho? - Charles Hartford

Looking back on it as a whole, no aspect of Captain Marvel #25 fails to deliver in the slightest. Emotional moments, great characters, and an exciting send-off that sets up the next issue perfectly. The hype is real for this one. And I cannot wait to see how this story ends. Read Full Review

You Don't Read Comics - Kellie Keener

    Jan 28, 2021

Captain Marvel #25 isn't the most action-packed issue of the arc thus far, but the narrative is more than enough to keep readers invested. With Ove's supposedly true backstory revealed- Enchantress isn't exactly trustworthy- he becomes an even more fascinating villain than he appeared when he originally told his story. And with the ending of Captain Marvel #25, it appears that Captain Marvel #26 is going to be a battle of epic proportions where Captain Marvel can really let loose.  Read Full Review

Word Of The Nerd - Cat Wyatt

Captain Marvel #25 is another impressive addition to Captain Marvel's career. I know that I can't be the only fan (well, fangirl, and no shame in it) that's ecstatic to see that final page for this issue. Now to see where it all leads. Read Full Review

Garbett and Ortega deliver some beautiful art throughout the issue. The flashback scenes are beautiful in their scope and emotion while the present day scenes are filled with energy in the action. Read Full Review

While this arc might be ending very soon, Thompson, Garbett, and the entire Captain Marvel crew have only made me love this new reality even more, and I hope we get to return to it someday soon. Read Full Review

Comics: The Gathering - Charles Martin

    Jan 27, 2021

Carol spends this issue trapped in a familiar narrative prison -- held captive while her antagonists monologue at her. But sharp writing and attractive art do a good job of making Captain Marvel's ordeal palatable to the reader; this is a fully-satisfying continuation of the ongoing arc. Read Full Review

Weird Science Marvel Comics - Aaron Anderson

This issue ended really strong. It helped me ignore the fill in the blanks monologuing that came from Enchantress and Ove. I felt a lot of that was unnecessary because I thought Kelley Thompson and Lee Garbett conveyed or implied that enough last issue. I really hope we can spend more time in this timeline it is really getting my imagination going. I am also really excited about next issue because of the fireworks that are about to be on display will really make Garbett's art shine. Read Full Review

This issue surpassed all my expectations. I really enjoyed Ove's origin story and felt that it was quite compelling. Ove shares many of the qualities readers enjoy about Namor, while also possessing his own unique personality traits. Take that and mix it in with some enchantress and you've got an interesting new villain! The artwork was solid and added to the emotion and weight of the story. This was arguably my favorite issue of Thompson's entire run (issue #8 was also amazing) and I look forward to more. 10/10

This was a surprisingly good issue. I like Kelly Thompson's run, but this arc has had some trouble keeping me invested, and you wouldn't think an issue dedicated to backstory would work so well, but it does.

Amora reveals Ove's true origin before the heroes inevitably bust loose and prepare to wallop the baddies. It's a good balance between expository backstory and action developments, nursed along by good, clear art and Kelly Thompson's trademark "this is simply the best way to describe what these characters see and feel" prose. The premise of this arc remains merely satisfactory to me, but I admire how skillfully the story is being told.

I dont usually pick up Ms. Marvel. I am still sour she no longer wears the swimsuit from my middle school days. Then I saw Namor on the cover. Picked it up. Wasn't disappointed. Chained up women from the first page, tales of a marriage out of desperation followed the remainder of the tale. Then Emma Frost made an appearance and Ms. Marvel followed Black Cat this month by doing the Diana Prince shit in Marvel vs. DC on the last page. I'll be locked in for the next one - swimsuit return or not. - cvrthebard.tumblr.com
