But Why Tho? - Charles Hartford

    Feb 24, 2021

When all is said and done Captain Marvel #26 delivers an excellent wrap-up to its storyline. With action, character, and heart all in abundance, it is everything I have come to expect from his title. Here's to whatever comes next! Read Full Review

For a book that has been at a high standard for quite some time, this issue was outstanding! When you consider how frustrating Avengers and the Phoenix force story has been, how nothing has happened in Amazing Spider-Man for a whole and don't get me started with the re-incarnation of Claremont's long running elongation of story that Hickman is channeling, Thompson and Carol have delivered quality storytelling month in / month out. Head and shoulders the best book that Marvel has published this year to date. Read Full Review

In many ways, I am sad that Captain Marvel #26 brings a wrap to this plot arc. Still, it's impossible not to be extremely curious about where things will go from here. As the saying goes, when one door closes, another one opens. Read Full Review

Captain Marvel#26 is a mostly-satisfying conclusion to a fantastic arc. Garbett's pencils get the job done and Thompson's writing knocks it out of the park -- it'll be interesting to see where the title goes from here. Read Full Review

You Don't Read Comics - Kellie Keener

There were a lot of threads to tie up at the end of this arc, and maybe there were too many. Because the emotional moments in Captain Marvel #26 felt rushed, and there wasnt time for them to truly sink in. The story felt unbalanced. It wasnt a bad story; it was just underwhelming. Garbetts art and Fabelas colors made Captain Marvel #26 a visually satisfying ending, at least. But without a solid story to back it up, the issue just feels okay overall.   Read Full Review

Comic Book Revolution - Kevin Lainez

    Feb 28, 2021

Captain Marvel #26 was at its best when it focused on the Carol Danvers aspect of the story. The way visiting a possible future for herself and her friends impacted Carol was well handled by Kelly Thompson. Which makes the underwhelming way that the main villain of this story was dealt with such a massive disappointment. At the end of the day Ove was a forgettable villain even though a lot of time was spent trying to develop him as a credible threat. That disappointment brings down what was otherwise a well-written character focused conclusion. Read Full Review

Cap'n Marvel saves Generic Post-Apocalyptic Land from Ove by letting him go back in time like he wants. I get that it's intentionally frustrating, and Carol is as unsatisfied with it as I am. Still stings. The art's a little fast, a little short on detail, but I do like the new Binary design. And perversely, I like the final-scene surprise. It's a last-ditch attempt to add some weight and consequence to these future AU shenanigans. It might be contentious, but I admire its ingenuity.

Writers should be forbidden of using alternate apocalyptic future storylines. So it's just another mediocre Alternate Future saga and the ending of the issue is ridiculous.
