Blood Hunt #2 continues to solidify the story as the seminal event of the post-Secret Wars Marvel landscape. From its tight stringing of continuity across modern stories to bombastic artwork and rapturous coloring, the issue makes the case for why events should come together. MacKay sells the premise primarily through character and shared histories while Larraz takes the notions and ratchets them to 12 through the next-level pencils. Gracia brings together all the various elements with a sense of coloring that borders on the majestic. Blood Hunt #2 is a hell of a second issue that eases the fears the event would start with a bang and quickly wither. There's another great surprise here that feels like it comes out of nowhere in a good way. There's also some fantastic moments in battle that really show off how amazing the Avengers are. Plot Tygra, Miles Morales and Hunter's Moon fight against hordes of vampires and reach Doctor Strange's sanctuary, where they discover that his body was attacked by Blade and had to separate into his astral form, this was done by Clea with her infinite magical wisdom (Read Doctor Strange #15). Blade, the leader of this vampire attack controls The Impossible City of the Avengers, where Black Panther has already turned him into a vampire and sent his BloodCoven on the trail of the Avengers and his daughter Bloodline. Dracula and Bloodline join the Avengers to stop BloodCoven, whom they defeat using their powers and the sun's rays. This sequence is great and shows that Vision is a key member. Importantly, Dracula does not agree with thi s vampire attack and his rank as the first vampire is dismissed by The Structure. Bloodline is unaware that her father is the leader of this disaster, when her friend Miles Morales suddenly becomes a vampire, has Blade managed to secretly turn several heroes and send them as spies under her control? This event surprises on every page, its narration is additive and no hero is safe. Art It is full of textures that increase dynamism and offer a gloomy tone perfect for this crossover that mixes horror and superheroes. We’re two issues in and Blood Hunt is exactly what a main crossover event title should be — thrilling and full of high-stakes moments with a large cast of characters sharing the spotlight. Jed MacKay's script moves at a super-fast pace, without feeling rushed, packed with an intensity that Pepe Larraz and Marte Gracia visualize in epic fashion. The issue follows a handful of plot threads established in the previous issue, each one expertly woven together to create a narrative that's both sprawling and focused. MacKay's script stands on its own, but also effortlessly nods to the event’s tie-ins in ways that make you actually want to seek them out. He elevates the event into something more than just this Summer's Marvel cash-grab, cr eating a story that feels truly consequential and far-reaching. The stakes are high, and MacKay delivers a sense of tension and urgency that's hard to put down. He’s also expertly handling a multitude of personalities, giving each character a sense of individuality while respecting their current or recent placements in the broader Marvel comic universe. From the Avengers to the Midnight Mission, different superheros play a major role in this sprawling adventure, and MacKay handles the large cast with ease. His development of the villainous Bloodcoven could go a bit deeper, but that’s splitting hairs. I may just be asking for too much. Pepe Larraz's artwork is simply stunning, bringing MacKay's script to life in a visceral way that's made even better in the book’s red-band version. Every page is rich in visual storytelling, with pulse-pounding panels and emotional character moments that resonate deeply. Marte Gracia's colors are equally impressive, adding depth and richness to Larraz's art with a moody dark palette that sets the tone of the book. Gracia does shift to a few bright panels near the end thanks to Vision’s powers giving the Avengers the upperhand for the time being. It’s an awesome panel that stands out compared to the rest of the book. In short, Blood Hunt #2 is another banger and a perfect follow-up to the debut issue. MacKay, Larraz, and Gracia are creating something special with this event so far! Rating: 9.5/10 more

Once again, I'll preface this by saying I read the Red Band Edition. I don't think it matters all that much, though. This issue didn't pack as much of a punch as the first one, but I didn't really expect it to. This was a fun read that gave the heroes a relative win following how the last issue went down. Everyone seems to be coming together now and I'm glad about it. Larraz's art was fantastic again, as well. I will say, though, the ending of this was a little sudden. I'm not upset at it or anything, as it was a little shocking, but I'm just hoping we get an explanation as to how this happened in the next issue.

It's a fun read if I don't think of it as an event because the Avengers here could be substituted with another team and it wouldn't matter. So it's fine but the art by Pepe Larraz instantly elevates it to great.
