The artwork is great as always, but the writing is serviceable with too much exposition hyping up these new Masters of Evil. The comic doesn't go far enough to truly show this Doom's great and terrible powers, and Kid Thanos barely does anything cool in the comic. It's fine, but I wish it was fun. Read Full Review

I have really enjoyed the avengers book for a really long time now and this issue kept the streak alive. I can't wait to see what's in store for the next issue

I don't mind it when Avengers is just a bunch of cool shit happening to characters I like. That's all this issue is. One of the reviews here really stuck out to me, and I'm under no obligation not to mention it. There's a review here that's oddly personal, and it's not from the usual suspects. They claim that this issue is just Jason Aaron dealing with his unresolved religious issues, and that the comic suffers for it. I'd call that a personal attack if it wasn't so fucking weird. I definitely don't see their point here. One, even if this was the case, art has never shied away from the big questions, such as faith. The plot developments just get dumber and dumber, but dang if they don't explode across the panels in cinematic popcorn-chompin' glory. Li'l Thanos sounds incredibly creepy, too. Once again this title manages to meet my incredibly low expectations. (And once again, the Deathlok is my least favorite part of the story.)

Well I didn't find it boring like I have with some of Aaron's Avengers run, that's a plus. It just wasn't great. For real, Namor should pound the crap out of kid Thanos. That didn't happen so that's probably my biggest complaint here. I like the idea of really powerful over the top evil Doom but I really want 616 Doom to show up and destroy him. That would redeem this entire run to have a epic 616 Doom show up and destroy that faker. I don't think it'll happen but it could! In thinking about the overall story now... Group of powerful bad guys get together to ... Fight and destroy through the multiverse... Because they are evil? Is that really the story here? Maybe I forgot something, I've not reread these issues since really I'm just more

Aaron just tries too hard to explore his unresolved religious issues but this is not the place to do it. The story starts somewhere interesting and ends up where he needs it to be and not necessarily following his logic. It takes away from the previous setup up. I hope Aaron can get some clearance someday and sort out his beliefs because every book I read from him you can clearly see he is struggling and is trying to fit things together but Avengers should not suffer for it.
