Amazing Spider-Man #19

Honestly, the sudden turn towards a somewhat cliche murder-mystery with a large ensemble was kind of a surprise. The classic Agatha Christie sort of feel to the issue would be tedious were it not...yknow...Spider-Man and a whole bunch of classic Spidey villains as the ensemble in question. Dodsons visual wit matches Kellys sense of humor almost perfectly beat-for-beat. The pair makes a really good team for a pleasant little excursion from the work that Zeb Wells and John Romita Jr. have been rolling through lately. Read Full Review

Amazing Spider-Man #19 is a jokey, contrived, silly adventure from a guest creative team. If the unbelievable series of coincidences don't trip you up, the snappy Whedon-esque dialog will. Incredibly fun and well written. Such a breath of fresh air after Dark Web. I'm sure there will still be complaints because MJ and Paul exist, but I really loved the couples' interactions in this issue.

I liked just about everything about this aside from some lackluster art by both Dodsons. I've never been the biggest fan of their interiors and while most of the time it was great, there were more than a few panels, background characters or off model pieces. I really enjoyed the story here. A breath of fresh air after what has been going on with ASM the last few issues. You still get the ever looming Peter/MJ drama while creating a fun getaway for Peter and Felicia to miraculously find themselves in a fun winter themed team-up. Give me more of this. PLEASE. Also, somehow this cover is both good and terrible. It's good for JRJR now but it's far from his best work and has no bearing on the story and while I know not all comic covers necessari ly showcase what is happening in the story for whatever reason this one just makes no sense. Regardless, fun issue. I like fun. Sue me. more

I'll be honest. This was really fun. I'm really confused on why we suddenly had a guest creative team on ASM (can't remember the last time this happened), but I don't mind. Kelly wrote this event well, it's a nice change of pace after Dark Web that I welcome. Seeing MJ and Paul here didn't ruin this for me, I don't really hate Paul because we have seen so little of him. So I'm indifferent about it. I don't like the idea, but we'll see where it goes. The only big prolem for me here is Dodson's art feeling a bit messy and unfinished at times. I loved his work on Marvel Knights, part of the reason why I love Millar's Down Among Dead men, Venomous and Last Stand is Dodson's great art. Here it just doesn't work as well. But that doe sn't ruin this issue. I'm looking forward to the conclusion. Maybe I like this so much because my standards for ASM aren't that high currently. At least this didn't include character assassination(s) like Dark Web did. more

Kelly on Spider-Man is always a joy, but the issue was marred by some uncharacteristically awful art by the Dodsons — so many missing faces and mangled fingers you'd think it was generated by AI.

I really enjoyed Peter and Felcia, dynamic here. They were written so well. I think this is the first time that for me, they felt like a real relationship. The villain plot was ok, nothing mind-blowing, but it did give us chance to have fun with our two lover heroes. And of course, The art was stellar, but its the Dodsons so you can expect no less than their best. Hey Marvel, is it too late to have this filler creative team take over?

Love the story. Always exciting. Lots of fun moments. Good balance of interpersonal stuff and action pieces. The dialogue can be pretty... cringe at times, though.

This is a pretty solid start to an interlude arc. The creators are obviously talented--not working their fingers to the bone, but their experience shines through. As usual, Joe Kelly digs a touch too deep into premises that would be more palatable without the scrutiny. And though the Dodsons don't do so great with smaller panels or scene-setting, their skill in the splashier moments is undeniable. Not all-time great, but definitely good. And welcome at this point in the series.

It would be great!... Except it's not. Peter acts like the usual idiot from Wells stories, Felicia is a completely different character from what we've seen in recent years and, of course, let's randomly put MJ and Paul here. Could be fun with the Glass Onion-ish story, but it's just a disappointment. ASM is literally the worst series I'm reading at the moment, can't really understand the hype I see on this website.

Not a bad story, but it left a bit to be desired for me. It's very much filler, but that's what I expected with the guest team of Joe Kelly & Terry Dodson. Although the story was a bit lacking, I did particularly enjoy some of Kelly's dialogue and comedic stuff. As for Dodson, that man can virtually do no wrong, in my opinion. As usual, his art was great.

The Dodsons never *ever* disappoint when it comes to the art, esp. when part of the story matteris one Felicia Hardy! Overall, the book's visuals were a solid 10 outta 10; the story, on the other hand, was not so much! I've always like Joe Kelly 's scripting, but here it was just dialed in! Nothing to make ya go "Wow!" Or anything! It was kinda boring, if we're being honest here! Maybe it was just an off day for Joe theday he turnedin the script for this issue! 🫤
