Another A+. As someone who enjoyed what Dan Slott tried to do for Peter Parker, I couldn’t be happier with what Nick Spencer has brought to the table so far. It’s a great jumping on point while building on what came before. The artists of the book, while not my favorite, certainly make it their own and make each issue all the better for it. If there’s any quibbles to be had about Amazing Spider-Man #2, it’s just that the pacing feels a little shorter than one might expect - although Spencer introduces so much in the mix, from a reinstated Curt Connors to an inspired, quip-heavy appearance from Taskmaster and Black Ant, it’s hard to really fault him. But the characterization and artwork are so striking that it’s easy to say that this is both Spencer and Ottley at their best, particularly when they’re filling the massive boots of Dan Slott’s epic run on the book. I haven't been into Spider-Man for quite a long time, but with this new creative team, they have reinvigorated the Wall Crawler! Not that the series was bad before; it is just nice to have a new voice on the series now. The Parker luck has struck again and Peter must pull his life back together. Throughout Amazing Spider-Man #2 Nick Spencer strikes a great balance between the drama, comedy and action fans expect from a Spider-Man comic book. Bringing back the Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson relationship is a strong anchoring point for this series to have. So far I'm loving Amazing Spider-Man, like last issue it truly is a breath of fresh air. It's not to say Dan Slott was a bad writer, just when you're at the helm of a book which focuses on one character for ten years, things can become a bit stagnant. This is why I feel Superior Spider-Man was so good; while it was Peter's body, it was also Doctor Octopus inside Peter's body, hence a new character and a whole new way of portraying Spider-Man which was different from the norm of the book. Amazing Spider-Man issue two follows the formula and style of the first issue and to me, while still finding its footing, is more of a mixed bag again. I love MJ and Peter back together for now, and the art continues the long trend of great art on the Spider-Man titles, but Spencer's style and reliance on his go to tricks aren't really hitting home with me, with his humor walking the line of consistently below average. This continues to deliver a great story, gives us Mary Jane back (for now), the puns and jokes are appropriate, and the twist at the end keeps me guessing until the next issue comes out.

Despite the torrential downpour of bad luck Peter Parker experienced last issue, he has taken a surprisingly positive turn for the better. Him getting back together with Mary Jane might have something to do with it, and many fans including myself couldn’t be happier with this turn of events. However, Peter still has to make up for his unintentionally massive blunder of plagiarizing his doctoral thesis, and the interactions between Peter and his new professor, Dr. Curt Conners, put quite the smile on my face. After the events of The Clone Conspiracy, I was a bit worried about Conners’ situation, but I am glad Nick Spencer is utilizing him in such a constructive way. Overall, with good dialogue, great art, and a mind-boggling ending, I’ d say this is one story you shouldn’t miss out on! more

Spencer has truly taken what Slott has done and used it well to make a fresh start without feeling like it's disconnected from what has come before it. It really is a fun book to read. Ottley's art is great and is even better thanks to Laura Martin's colors.

I don't know how Spencer does this. Spidey is back again as a jobless student, but Spencer makes it interesting and feeling fresh. This isn't perfect comic, but very enjoyable one and sometimes, that is all you need. Awesome artwork by Ottley doesn't make it any worse though.

Man, I am really enjoying this new Spider-Man series. Nick Spencer's characterization of Spider-Man is really quite good and his humor fits the series very well. It also has really good secondary story lines in the relationship of Peter and MJ and the issues involved with the validity of Peter Parker's academics. Also the Spider-Man rogues are written really well in this series, I can't wait to see more of them. Once again this issue leaves you with a cliffhanger that makes you sit on the edge of your seat waiting for the next issue. A really great second issue, can't wait to see where the series goes next.

This second issue was really good. I liked the first one as well, but I was more concerned with the follow up to the start. This showed that the series is in the right direction. The humor is there, the good dialogue, MARY JANE! and a little surprise at the end. This should be a good series. Art seemed a little better in this issue as well.

This is a fun and interesting comic book--I'm enjoying Nick Spencer's tone and voice on this and the Ryan Ottley art is pretty great. I'm liking the fact that Pete and MJ are together and the whole back to school thing. This has become one of my favourite reads.

This is a fun book and its taking Spiderman back to what made us love Spiderman in the first place. The jokes dont always land but it still made me laugh a few times. Ryan Ottley on Spiderman is perfect.

This issue eventually gets around to pushing the "Curt Connors wants Peter as a student" plot through a couple of promising developments, including an excellent last-page surprise. The first scenes are still going a little heavy on the "I am Spider-Man! Look at me Spider-Man-ing all over the place!" characterization. MJ name-checking "fresh start" was pretty cringe-y, too. The art is growing more impressive, using smart conservation of detail to make things look clear and bold without getting simplistic or flat.

Complete trash dialogues, story and art up until the last couple of pages. Probably still an idiotic turn of events, but I'll give Spencer the benefit of doubt, AGAIN.
