Absolute Carnage is nothing short of terrifying. It's a pulse-pounding thrill ride of an adventure through the lens of pure, unbridled horror. This book will grab hold of you from the very first page. There were times I had to remember to breathe as I was so enthralled with this book. This is top tier stuff. Read Full Review

Absolute Carnage #2 is a solid entry to the event series. There are a ton of tie-ins to this that you may or may not need to check out. This issue alludes to some of them and they are all pretty solid on their own. Note you may want to read this issue before you check those out if you don't want some spoilers. Read Full Review

Comic Book Revolution - Kevin Lainez

    Aug 29, 2019

Absolute Carnage #2 does a fantastic job carrying the momentum created by the first issue to continue the forward momentum of this event. Donny Cates and Ryan Stegman have combined to create a version of Carnage that comes across as the deadliest villain in the Marvel Universe. Spider-Man, Venom and the Marvel Universe as a whole are now in a position where you are left wondering how they can overcome Carnage and his forces. For a big event that is exactly the note Absolute Carnage #2 makes full contact on hitting. There is genuine excitement to read what is going to happen next in Absolute Carnage. Read Full Review

How can this be so good? I don't understand the entire history of spider-man comics and why there seems to be so many people who wore the symbiote, i'm assuming there's a lot. The art and story is exceptional. The coloring is wonderful. The unified green/red/blue/black hues feels like the entire story from panel 1 to last panel is tied together so well. When it goes all red, it feels like it was designed to signify the imminent threat, and it delivers on that front. plus points on the ever present interaction between venom and spidey. like i said i'm an outsider but the dialogue that hints about their history is informative but not too expository. makes me actually WANT to dive into back issues and read up about their long h more

Prelude: Cates absolutely blew me away with the first issue of Absolute Carnage. Question is, can he follow it up? The Good: Can I just say everything? It feels like it's everything. The art, Cates' storytelling, this feels like an event despite the relatively low amount of players. A nice switch from recent events such as the War of the Realms though I expect it to pick up in September with the tie-ins ramping up. The Bad: Bit jumpy but I think I just got so engrossed with what was happening everything started speeding up. Oh and I got confused at points with Norman and Cletus, sometimes a bit hard to tell them apart. Conclusion: Cates is going all out on Absolute Carnage and I couldn't be happier. Though the art confused m more

You know it's good when you're left wanting more at the end. Spoiled with the last bigger issue so this one felt over too quick. Credit to Donny Cates for creating it. Stegman's art is just wild man! Mayer and Martin complement his style very well.

This event is really cool and awesome. Stegman is one of the top artists working at Marvel today, in my opinion. His art started off really good in the Venom series and has only gotten better with this event. The details on all the symbiote characters gives that horror vibe that this event is really striving for. The story is also really good, it's reminding me of Blackest Night from DC. My only gripe with this is it feels a lot shorter than the last book, mostly because there's only one big action sequence at the end. The middle is entirely filler and contains my other gripe, showing images from the tie-ins which shouldn't be necessary to enjoy a main event. The best events should be able to be read by themselves without even mentio more

Carnage is on a rampage! Absolutely love the Spider-Man - Venom dynamic here. The comic takes interesting turns especially on the Codex. Unfortunately Miles has become one of Carnage's prey in the middle of the conflict. I like how things are grim and how it seems like there is no hope, let's see how it goes from here.

Most everything looks and sounds good, but we've reached the point where plot development comes before mood. The art and writing do still try to evoke horror, but it's not hooking me too well this time around.

This story has been exceptionally entertaining already and certainly worth the time (and money) to keep up with what happens next. The artwork itself continues to be beautifully dark, without losing it's traditional characteristic styles, while incorporating new themes and ideas. Can't wait to continue to see what Cates does behind this wheel of this wild ride.

Another great issue. Not sure Miles added as much of an impact as Cates intended. Also come on this is a horror and a damn fine one kill fuckin Scorpion I can't believe how there hasn't been a legitimate kill by this point and I worry that despite how scary this all seems to be we won't get the bloodshed required to make a horror with some weight behind it. Spiderman's writing is annoying for sure but other than that Cates gives another good bit of writing. Great issue but will it continue to with the same detail and care for quality? That's the real cliffhanger

THE GOOD: -This was a pretty good issue. It's not as good as the first one, but I guess that's to be expected. -I'm a big fan of how Donny Cates writes Maker. Not obnoxious or over exaggerated, but true to the character. -Carnage is a pretty good villain. He definitely had some scenes here that solidified my opinion on him. -Ooh, that end was really creepy. I'm excited for next issue now. -That twist about Dylan was really surprising and I'm hoping it will lead to interesting issues in the future. -Eddie's just a really great character. THE BAD: -I'm surprised to say it, but Stegman's art really took a drop with this issue. Last issue just oozed atmosphere and horror, here it was really bland actually, and any pa more
