Redcoat #10 continues to keep Simon's adventures fun and exciting and the audience on the edge of their seats. His journey through time has us ready to see whom he crosses paths with next; all the while, there is a larger story being told ending with a bit of a cliff-hanger. Redcoat 10 introduces a new ally for Simon along with one final teaser for Simon's encounter with The Northerner. This has been one of the easiest series to get into in years. Plot Ghost Machine and Redcoat celebrate a surprising and exciting anniversary with this installment! May many more years to come! In 1890, Simon was escaping from a group of gunmen he had tricked in a card game. Although he managed to escape on a train, due to his absent-mindedness and trust, he fell into the Missouri River with no money. Upon reaching the nearest town, he finds himself in a shooting competition where he could win money and thus quench his eternal hunger and thirst, the consequences of his immortality. The competition is with Annie Oakley, who is very skilled with weapons and a phenomenal shooter. In Simon, she finds a worthy opponent, as Simon, after more than a hundred years of life, has managed to perfect his aim. Annie Oakley is based on a real character from the American Old West; there are many references to her life in this comic. The competition is interrupted by a shootout by the Rogers Brothers, who had just released their brother from prison. Annie takes Simon to the top of a house to shoot everyone. She wanted Simon to shoot just one, but Simon is suffering from a kind of depression, and when he succeeds, Annie's words inspire him to believe in himself. Simon is madly in love with Annie, who is a married woman. This issue is what's called a "feel good" comic, a unique story meant to make us feel good. However, on the last page, they introduce The Northerner, a mysterious soldier who is part of the universe of Unnamed characters, whose goal is to eliminate Simon. He appears out of nowhere. Art Bryan Hitch offers his cinematic vision, directing mesmerizing action sequences and capturing the details and tones of each era. The colors create the perfect atmosphere of a harsh post-war era. His command of scale is mesmerizing, transporting and shocking with striking realistic visions in a very cinematic format. Summary Simon Pure finds hope for moving forward and impossible love in a shooting competition. more

even though this was directionless. The dialogue and art still works and I like the thought processes. Geoff Johns has been growing on me based on his non-DC content
