But let's not bury the lede. Somewhere and somewhen, in continuity, Kara cared for a future Brainiac. A Kara/Brainiac 5 romance happened. Long Live the Legion! And kudos to Williamson for respecting Supergirl's lore. I'm betting that Brainiac is being manipulated here. He is shorting out, creating the Queen, experimenting on super-beings. Superman #13 is the second part of the House of Brainiac storyline and brings some new developments for the story. Naturally, Superman finds and reluctantly teams up with Lobo to take down Brainiac and his Czarnian army. There's a few good and weird callbacks to previous continuity in the comic, but nothing too bad for now. The comic also furthers the mystery of why Brainiac is doing what he's doing, but if you've been paying attention to news announcements from DC Comics, then you know why. Overall, a solid second part of the House of Brainiac, and it's looking like the third part might be even better. Read Full Review

The Enemy of My Enemy is My Friend never had Superman and Lobo in mind? With Williamson guiding the pair into danger, the House Of Brainiac delivers fans a strong chapter to follow. Sandoval, Snchez and Maher construct big action sequences with a shocking proposition lingering in the background. Just wait for the final page to turn everything upside down until next time. Joshua Williamson and Rafa Sandoval are crafting a pretty dope Brainiac epic, with a novel idea for the reason for the Coluans attack on Metropolis, stealing Supermans family and friends. Unfortunately Lobo seems to be a pretty big part of this epic, and hes one of those characters that just grate on my nerves. Hopefully the team will change my mind. Read Full Review

More interesting sub plots coming out of this. Brainiac seems to be dying of having too much knowledge. Lex is offering to help him and give him Superman. Clearly Lex is up to something but I have a feeling he is only playing a role and is still going to benefit Superman in the end somehow. Lobo and Supes team up and fight the Czarnians. Kara and Superboy escape the pods of Brainiac but have no powers still. Art is still looking good here

Joshua Williamson is like Walter White right now, he is cooking up some great high quality product with Superman. If this keeps up, it might be up there with Warworld Saga. I like the art, the coloring, the characters, the dialogue, the story of Lex Luthor knowing something, how Joshua Williamson writes the Superman family, the pacing is more tighter and stronger, the action, and everything just works. Joshua Williamson understands Superman on how he has to show restraint in his anger. This was a great follow-up to the first part, and I cant wait to see how it plays out next month.

Another exciting chapter. A lot is set up well in this issue and I want to see what is going on with Brainiac. Good mix of action and conversations to break up the pace. Solid art. This is shaping up to be a promising Superman event. I just hope Williamson can stick the landing (which he often cannot).

The latest installment of the House of Brainiac event in Superman #13 is a thrilling ride that lives up to its predecessor. Joshua Williamson & Rafa Sandoval deliver an issue that’s packed with action, emotional depth, & a couple plot twists that will keep you reading on. The story picks up where we left off, with Superman’s allies captured by Brainiac & our hero teaming up w/ Lobo to take him down. The pace feels faster & more intense & Williamson starts to tease Brainiac’s sinister plans while revealing a few new wrinkles. Meanwhile, Superman’s rage is pushed to new limits, and we even see Lobo’s vulnerable side. I’m not the biggest Lobo fan around, but I can tolerate how Williamson is using him here so far. The one charact er who I didn’t exactly know how to feel about is Lex. I’m worried we’re falling into a redundant cycle of “is he really good?” & it’s verging on being annoying. At some point we need to move past this & establish a more firm new normal w/ him. The action sequences are expertly choreographed, with Sandoval’s detailed linework & Alejandro Sanchez’s vibrant colors bringing the action to life in stunning fashion. They also capture the sci-fi feel of Brainiac’s galactic lair in a wonderfully creepy, foreboding way. Superman & Lobo’s space motorcycle ride may be the ultimate highlight, showcasing the creativity & imagination that makes this series stand out. more

A decent continuation to this event. Not sure why superman needs a suit to go into space and why Supercorpo would have spacebikes just laying around. Also, it doesn't make any sense that the bikes would be small enough to get past the United Planets when a single Green Lantern couldn't. This needed a little more thought put into it. I can’t believe this storyline is actually making me care about Lobo. I just really liked his conversation with Clark before they ran into the other Czarnians. The art from Sandoval is pretty good here again, as well.

Cinematic as it can get Joshua can make his work into cinema some day as the encounter between Superman and his new foe indicates. Power packed fights bizarre idea to something continues

Pretty average issue really. What Williamson was thinking wasting about 4 perfectly good pages with a boring unnecessary talk between Superman and Lobo is beyond me though. The boredom factor of that alone has to cost my review of this issue a full point at least. Why weren't they pigging out on fast food while talking like most Superheroes seem to do while having these dull conversations about the direction their lives are heading. I'm not sure whether or not I really care for this story. Right now my main concern is that it may end up becoming my jump off point, not only from Superman, but all of DC. At least there's still plenty of adventure otherwise in this issue. Not exactly worth $5, but still a decent enough read.
