But Why Tho? - Derrick Pittman
Mar 04, 2020Superman: Villains #1 sets the tone for a wild ride. While there are a lot of writers on this issue, it is unclear exactly who penned what and in what scenes but their amalgamation is great at staying on course with the tone of the story, surprise, and confusion. However, the mix of artwork sometimes works, but sometimes it doesn't. Read Full Review

Mar 04, 2020The overall issue serves as a reminder for how many different ways Superman's world is portrayed today and there isn't a complete miss throughout the entire collection, but enough missteps make this one one-shot with mileage that's bound to vary wildly. Read Full Review

Supergirl Comic Box Commentary - Anj
Mar 06, 2020Realize this, in a book called Superman Villain, a book looking specifically at his foes response to his Truth, Kara is the lead in a story. Supergirl is a Superman villain right now. That is inherently wrong. It is simply terrible. And yet, once again, here we are. Same as it ever was. That is such a monumental failure for me, on all levels, that I can't help but have it muddy my feelings on the rest of the book. Read Full Review

Mar 09, 2020This issue seems to be setting us up for something big, not only in the pages of Superman but also Supergirl and Action comics too. We've got the different creative styles all intertwining to bring us various tales within the rogue's gallery of Superman and the different reactions to several developments in Smallville, Metropolis and beyond. It's great set-up in what appears to be a new chapter in the Man of Steel's life. And it is a splendid issue with dynamite"to be continued! (***8.3) Read Full Review

Weird Science - Eric Shea
Mar 04, 2020The Villains one-shot was something that I was really looking for because there are so many great Superman villains that I wanted to see reactions from, but ultimately what we get is setup for Bendis stories, with Bendis characters and the classic villains that I was looking for here, are left behind or just used as jokes here. The art is a mixed bag because of the number of artists here and by the end, I was just kind of shocked at how much everyone dropped the ball at making something fun out of this issue.
