The tone shifts dramatically after this, with Superman being shocked by Booster's condition and Williamson getting to remind us that the time-traveller is actually one of the DCU's most interesting heroes. But before they can get home, there's one more betrayal and a cliffhanger that raises the stakes for this mission tenfold. Read Full Review

With great power comes grave irresponsibility. Williamson brings back the unstable force with a great setup. Mora and Snchez drop some incredible images as the vision of Darkseid grows with each page. This current arc has been lights out and shouldnt be missed. Read Full Review

The Aspiring Kryptonian - David Beasley

In general, I'm not a huge fan of how Superboy-Prime is utilized in most stories. However, Williamson does an expert job finding the right style of voice and direction for the character. Of course the art and visuals are spectacular. I don't think Mora could do a terrible looking book if he tried. Another great issue by one of DC's more talented creative teams. Read Full Review

    The Comicbook Dispatch - StoryBabbler

Superman #29 delivers the second part of the Legion of Darkseid story with a surprise team up between Superman and Superboy Prime. Now, some fans might be discouraged by Primes appearance, but thankfully he is a solid character here whos used well, and despite his meta dialogue its not cringey. Once they get to the future, the story picks up with various developments that show why Darkseids Legionnaires are so dangerous, even for Superman and Superboy Prime. The art is great as usual, and the story continues to deliver, though the twist cliffhanger at the end is either going to be very good or very predictable depending on how things turn out in the next issue. Weird Science - Gabe Hernandez

    Aug 27, 2025

Superman #29 delivers a visually stunning journey through a grim future, but the script often gets in its own way. While the art truly shines, Superboy-Prime's meta commentary, though occasionally clever, drains much of the emotional resonance from what should be a desperate fight. It is a competent continuation of the "Legion of Darkseid" saga, yet it could have been more impactful without constantly winking at the reader. Read Full Review

Holy cow, Joshua Williamson is really cooking in this series. I love the dialogue, Dan Mora's beautiful art and the coloring, and the story. Honestly the plot twist at the end could go either way the next issue.

The plot really does thicken, and escalates the stakes, with this issue. Has a bit of a "Yesterday's Enterprise " feel going for it, too. With the cliffhanger ending, this feels like it has the makings of the next big DCU crisis, one that will also pull in the Absolute universe! I'm very excited to see what happens next. Williamson and Mora once again prove to be an unbeatable team!

Another good issue, but it's getting a diluted and messy. Suddenly there are dozens of copies of each character. I'm all good with a mirror universe but why does that mirror universe have to have dozens of other mirror universes that all have the ability of interacting? So, we have time travel and multi-verses simultaneously. This can get real confusing real fast. I should have seen the twist coming, but I didn't. That was good. So I guess Superboy Prime is Super Deadpool? And secondly these latest issues really feel like cheap DBZ episodes. I've seen better build up with Darkseid than this, I can go back to even John Byrne's Man of Steel and how he handled similar stories much more interesting than this. I get why people like it good for you but it feels kind of predictable. I liked most of this series except for the Absolute Power Tie ins and the early 20s. I get Williams is going for that Silver age feel which I respect especially when Superboy Prime jokingly says "c'mon get silver age with me." But even so it feels like there's still no stakes. Yeah we find out that the future IS Darkseid and everything the good guys did was meaningless. But with all th more
