I'm referring to a twist and a reveal that is one of the most genuinely shocking I've ever read in a comic book, and leaves me genuinely conflicted about whether it's a good idea. This book continues to play out like a magic trick, and a good one at that. There are interesting visual ideas at work, blended in a new way since two artists working so closely on the page together is a rare thing, but also because so much information is subverted or hidden away. Much like a good magician, the creative team has kept us guessing every step of the way, and further intrigue us by doing less and misdirecting us. Strange Adventures #10 is the issue where the magician reveals the trick in a way. Mr. Terrific not only lays out his conclusions but why he came to them. His words are one that's full of regret and sadness over his own experiences as his own truth is revealed as well. Strange Adventures covers a lot of ground here with Mr. Terrific presenting his letter on what he believes happened, which was not included in what the Justice League had produced. And for obvious reasons as they were looking at it from a different perspective and with different issues informing it. It definitely works well to showcase what Terriflc learned from his journey and his interviews and it presents it in a thoroughly engaging way. King's script works better than usual for me here in presenting what's essentially an information dump and I'm curious to see how much truth there really is in it. And once again, both Gerads and Shaner deliver some utterly gorgeous pages. I love what we see on Rann with its variety and cast of characters with how they look and just wish we had even more of it. The positives outweigh the negatives here as the technical aspects ofStrange Adventures #10 manage to outweigh the portents of Adam's chicanery. Additionally, the negatives are fueled by conjecture and expectations based on Kings other work. I’m not exactly sure how I feel about this story to be honest. I am hopeful of things coming out by King and Gerads and will honestly support anything that they do together. But, I know where this story is going and now I am just kind of checked out of it. I’ll go ahead and pick up the other two issues to have the full collection but if I had not already had every copy, I don’t think I would search it out. The art is well worth the price of this book but I think I would trade wait if I had it all to do over again. I think it might fit better together once every issue is out. I really can’t in good conscious tell you to get this particular book for the story but if you want beautiful art work, then certainly get this book. Read Full Review

Still its hard to feel like their efforts have been put to the best use as too often King has treaded water with the script. The lack of twists and surprises has robbed the series of its momentum as it heads for the home stretch and it feels like a waste. Everything we knew about adam was a lie. His victory on rann wasn't much of a victory. It was a deal. Trying to cover it up only made it worse, it only led to more lies and now, it's time to face the consequences of those lies. Adam is the villain. Or is he? can you really blame him for wanting to save his wife's planet, her home? There's more to it than meets the eye. After all, war is never that simple. This is great!

After this issue, I believe we’re supposed to understand that Alana is more in the dark than we thought. She believed in the war and understood that she needed to commit horrific acts of violence in order to save her home. She then helped her husband’s PR image because she believes in him. Honestly, I love what King has done here. He showed and explained why Earth, who has survived multiverses threats, was vulnerable to the Pykkts and is tying up nicely the mystery as it is slowly unveiled.

Terrific's report is interesting to read which is why I am giving this issue a high rating. However, it feels like his report is conjecture rather than a presentation of facts. What source did he use for the previous Pykkt invasions? The Rannians didn't share their information with him. There is no evidence that Strange is colluding with the Pykkts in their war against Earth. Maybe the Pykkts are a lot smarter than he gives them credit for & Batman's tactics are not perfect. Terrific has no evidence that Aleea is NOT dead, it is just speculation. Remember that Strange recruited all the races on Rann to fight against the Pykkts. Why is it so difficult to believe that Rann might win? Also, if the Pykkts have so much honor & grace, wh y would they let their soldiers be slaughtered by Strange & his forces?? I like that this issue focussed on Alanna in the present. more

Complete and utter bullshit, even King fanboys MUST see this, he just ripped you off of nine issues' worth of money for a farce! And he turned Adam Strange into a villain after he did the same to Wally West! Why does DC lets this guy get away with this kind of stuff? He's not Alan Moore and HE NEVER WILL BE BECAUSE HE SIMPLY LACKS THE TALENT AND SKILL.

Yes, I know, every time someone doesn't like a King book, he "doesn't understand it", it's always big-brain time with Tom King. Except it isn't, once you've learned his tricks, it gets rather tedious. Yes, I don't like when heroes are turned into villains, there's nothing more "complex" here than a classic villain ploy playing everyone else. And "the farce" is the whole fake war, nine issues of playing out a war that actually wasn't a war, if that's not a farce I don't know what is.

I’m not a huge King fan, and again, I don’t think everyone needs to like something I liked, but there’s no farce. Maybe it's because I like less "superhero'y" books. It's not that I'm necessarily attached to Adam Strange but King keeps doing this with every hero he gets his hand on, he vilifies them because he tries to copy Moore.. And it's getting really old. For the record, I actually really liked King's run on Batman until #50. And totally hated it after that.

While I can see YOUR intepretation of King's writing, personally, I focus on whether the story is captivating or not. King could have swapped Adam with any other (space) character, hero or villain, and I'll still read it -though technically a "villain" may not work given the narrative but I'm sure you get my point.
