Justice League #47

As the old showbiz adage goes, “Always leave them wanting more”. Robert Venditti has taken that to heart for his final issue. Justice League #47 caps his run off with a delightfully upbeat tale, beautifully illustrated by Eddy Barrows and Eber Ferreira. It's a shame that Venditti couldn't stick around longer. With the conclusion of Justice League #47 comes the conclusion of this story arc, and this was one heck of a story to tell. If you ever wondered what would happen if the Judgement of God was neglected? Now you know, and thus it is hard to argue that there is a more important figure on Earth than The Spectre, and the man who has to be this force of nature's host. Read Full Review

This issue does a good job establishing this story arc as meaningful for both the characters and the readers. The notion of letting go of resentment is a huge one most of us need to be reminded of, and it's nice to see messages like this in our superhero comic book stories.  Read Full Review

Eddy Barrows art was terrific. Venditti couldnt have picked a better artist to wrap his run than his Freedom Fighters co-collaborator. Barrows specializes in big moments and the JLA tangling with a Titan and an army of Amazons is pretty huge. Thats in addition to some creative visuals for The Spectre as well. Read Full Review

You're not missing out on much if you skip this, but if you can check it out, I think you'll enjoy a story that manages to keep the League grounded while presenting a conflict of impressive, yet proportional, scale. Read Full Review

Justice League #47 was a solid conclusion to Robert Venditti's short run on this series. Venditti was able to get over how the battle with Tartarus and Spectre was a major crisis. At the same time, through this conclusion to the "Cold War" arc Venditti was able to wrap up a few sub-plots he introduced in earlier issues. Add in Eddy Barrows always consistently good artwork and you have another enjoyable Justice League story that fans will enjoy. Read Full Review

A simple conclusion to a simple story. The Spectre comes and goes here, and hopefully, we get to see the character again in a more meaningful way. This arc is just a "fill-in" but a fun one nonetheless, even though it is a bit shallow. Read Full Review

While I did enjoy the art in this issue, for the most part, everything that was built up during this arc that seemed really badass and something that I didn't want to miss the outcome of........ comes off as a whimper here as the story just kind of ends in a silly way that makes everything kind of come off cheesy when it comes to our characters involved. Bumped up to an 8.5 because of the enjoyable artwork throughout the entire arc. Covers were spectacularly designed. The story ended on such a positive and great note.

This is my review for the entire arc. So one thing immediately clear to me is that there are certain things Vendetti does better than Snyder with the JL and that is their personal relationships. Snyder wrote Batman and Superman's relationship fantastically, but kind of didn't touch on the rest of them as a web of friends. This is kind of what Snyder's time on JL was missing since it was more of an epic, so I like it for that.

Hooray we’ve solved conflict between everyone forever! That was so easy! We should have just seen that war is the enemy! Nothing more complicated than that could ever come into play! Yay world peace! Also the art was bad.
