If anyone thought it was too risky to give you a villain's story within a heroes story? Justice League #13 says otherwise to that notion. I'm calling it now that this is probably the best issue that we have gotten out of this book so far. It is genius in the way that two of the very best villains could test their metal against one another. I have consistently been impressed with this new volume of Justice League. Drowned Earth was handled very well, and having a Legion of Doom issue before turning the book back over to the titular team was a very good idea. My only real problem with this issue is how quick Joker split from the Legion Of Doom, yes the writing was on the wall and super villains rarely stay together long but I just loved his insanity mixed in wit the rest of the L.O.D. I'm sure this was mostly Snyder's call to have Joker discover that The Batman Who Laughs has been released but for me personally it felt to soon for it to happen. Other wise, this issue was amazing. I'm glad that every so often the Justice League book becomes a Legion of Doom book, it's nice to have a peak at evil every once in a while. Stellar issue. Read Full Review

Justice League #13 is a nice change of pace. Although "Drowned Earth" was fairly well executed, the multiple storylines were taxing and at times convoluted. Justice League #13 is fairly straightforward in its composition and execution. Tynion's script is fun and fresh. March's art does a great job capturing the tone of the issue. Read Full Review

Snyder may have set the building blocks but Tynion has really given us the depth into the Legion of Doom that we need to make them a feared adversary. The Justice League isnt anywhere to be seen in this issue and thats not a bad thing as Tynion gives us a brilliant Joker who isnt one to mess with! Read Full Review

It feels like I'm reviewing a lot of Joker content lately. The character is extremely hot right now and it's not hard to see why so many talented creators have lined up to write him. All of the takes on the character I've reviewed are different. That extends across comics and into other forms of media. This isn't the traditional Joker I'm used to that gleefully beats kids too death with crowbars. This Joker is a potential threat to the DC universe which is hard to reconcile when you see the more grounded takes found in the depictions of Batman: Three Jokers or the Joker Graphic Novel. I'm not sure exactly why I stopped reading Justice League. I'm guessing it was because the series was shipping biweekly and I just couldn't keep up. I'm pr etty sure that I would have stayed on board if I'd read this issue before dropping the title from my pull list. With Aquaman/Justice League: Drowned Earth being over we're back to the overarching Justice League vs. Legion of Doom storyline and Lex Luthor's quest to obtain God-Like power. This issue sees Lex and his dealings with Joker and The Batman Who Laughs. As seen in previous issues Lex Luthor has The Batman Who Laughs held captive in the Legion of Doom base. Lex Makes the agreement with the insane Batman not to interfere with each other's plans going forward. The situation escalates pretty quickly for Luthor when it's revealed that prior to meeting with The Batman Who Laughs he made a "him or me" arrangement with the Joker. Joker finds out about the lie and proceeds to make Lex's life a living hell for the rest of the issue. If you want a "Peak" Joker experience and evidence of why he belongs in the Legion of Doom I submit Justice League #13. James Tynion IV has jumped to the top of my list of best comic writers working today and is on par with Jeff Lemire. This issue is easily a masterpiece and one of the reasons I started reading comics in the first place. The comic is wonderfully illustrated by Guillem March who beautifully illustrates the grimy streets of Gotham and the cosmic elements that come into play. He also makes the Joker look like an absolute beast by the end of the issue which is a credit to the art direction and script of the issue. Tynion is currently producing Joker War for DC comics. I have no idea how long it will take me to get there but I'm definitely excited to see what he has in store for the character. On the strength of this issue, I'm going to try to get caught up at least through the end of the Snyder Run on Justice League. This is the highest compliment I can give regarding the creative direction of this issue. Rating: God-Tier more

Superb, suspenseful and action-packed issue. Possibly the best single issues of this series yet. These Legion of Doom Issues are just as good as the regular Justice League ones. This is becoming a phenomenal series, now if I just didn't have to wait so long for this Perpetua chick to show up.

If you enjoy turmoil in groups then you’ll like this. Artwork really fit the tone of this issue. Unfortunately one thing that rub me wrong way, not fan of how scared they are making Joker be of Batman Who Laughs. At least make him act that they are equals. I will congratulate the book on this, it always knows how to excite me for next issue with its cliffhanger.

Great issue, however my complain is, that everything Joker did here, made the other villains look like beginners. Yes it’s Joker, but most of the other villains have successfully teamed up with him& he wasn’t more successful in fighting the heroes than they were. It’s sad they were portayed as mere puppets of Joker, while they actually can do better& also deserve better. I also see no reason for them fearing Joker, since they have a reputation of their own. They were downgraded to make Joker look more badass& I am no fan of this.

What you don't understand here is that Joker is a master planner, he's almost as brilliant as Lex with pure chaos in his hand. That's exactly what would happen when Joker catches Lex secretly getting help from The Man Who Laughs, to which Joker didn't agreed to. Now Joker knows Lex very well, so this isn't surprising at all considering how Lex underestimated Joker.

Yeah... This is why you wouldn't get Joker to join your fruity little club. This issue was pretty good. I was not a fan of the art, it looked like pseudo-manga art. Not a ton happens in this issue. It's basically a hype issue for The Batman Who Laughs. And it's pretty good... There's not much at all to talk about.

They should call this series The Legion of Doom, because these last 13 issues seem more focused on the villains than the heroes. Not the biggest fan of Guillem March's art, but it sufficed. Joker's fear and hatred of the BWL adds a new aspect to his character, but his plan to fuck with Luthor seemed kinda pointless. Return of Brainiac from No Justice and Prof Ivo was pretty cool too. A very "ok" issue.

"Joker only believes in Joker!" After the Drowned Earth, we get a little breather, in the form of this nice little filler issue, to take a look at our favorite team of bad guys. Things are not the best. As their ranks crumble we learn that you should never, under any circumstances, trust or make any deals with the Joker. He will stab you in the back and have a laugh. And if you hurt his feeling along the way, well... Good luck. Good issue. Art could have been better though.

THE GOOD: -The art was over the top and ridiculous, and it worked well for an over the top and ridiculous issue. -Tynion did a surprisingly good job of writing Joker. He felt perfectly written. -I laughed a lot reading this issue. It was quite funny. -The entire premise of Joker humiliating Lex Luthor and taking command is great, but it was executed even better. -Seeing the potential new recruits was pretty awesome, especially after they got Jokerized. Granted none of them made the cut. -The end was pretty good reveal. I'm somewhat excited. THE BAD: -Despite the art't tonal fit for the issue, there were a lot of awkward and cramped panels and pages. -I do think that the Perpetua thing felt off. Either they should have elaborated more, or just leave it for another issue. It felt a little out of place. -This issue felt a bit pointless, when they reveal that the whole plot was basically a setup for the Batman Who Laughs, which by the way, I read the preview for and cannot wait for. more

This was Okay... I'm just really happy Joker is finally out. Come on, Legion of Doom it's a classic JL foe, but there are members that really don't add against the FUCKING JUSTICE LEAGUE! And the Joker is one of them.
