I think what makes this comic particularly impressive is the blend of the familiar and the foreign. I am a long time Bendis and Maleev fan and a long-standing Bat-Family fan. The Question is a character I have superficial knowledge of, but I've always been curious about. Lastly, loyally following the Leviathan story I am completely intrigued, especially with this take from the perspective of characters very different from Superman. Read Full Review

The central thesis of the issue--that Jason Todd may well be Leviathan--is almost certainly a red herring, picking up as it does on a thread introduced way back in Mays Year of the Villain special and reintroduced here in the second issue of a six-issue series. Still, it leads to some compelling drama between two characters with a deep history and is sure to include clues to Leviathans true identity. Event Leviathan #2 is a massive improvement over the first installment. Bendis has a much better handle on the dialogue this time around, and there's a stronger bond between the script and the artwork. There are some welcome moments of levity cutting through the tension, but the verbal and visual game-play between Batman and his former partner is some of the most impressive comic-booking I've seen lately. While again fairly plotty for an early issue, Bendis' take on the Question and Plastic Man still entertain, the latter providing some of Bendis' trademark motor-mouthed "dad humor." Given his connection to Talia al Ghul, and the kind of outside the law tactics he likes to employ, I guess it shouldn't be surprising that Batman sees Todd as a potential suspect (although I'm not sure we've seen anything in Rebirth to suggest he has the mental capacity to pull this off, again, making me leery to accept this reveal just yet). Where this issue doesn't come off as boring, it has its characters coming off weird and not sounding like themselves.  Sadly, the art isn't something that I'm really behind either for this event and I can only hope that the story picks up going forward because besides for a few bits of progression here in an already drawn-out story..... there isn't much new if you've read Action Comics and DC's Year of the Villain. The race to find out who Leviathan is and why he is sparing some is really drawn out well here. This finally feels like a mystery thriller.

The mistery deepens and all the players gather to solve it. I really like Leviathan and this construction of a thriller. Maleev brings somme incredible art ( the last slash page was fucking incredible ) and the first page with the summary was good

This issue was better and left me more interested in continuing with the series. I wasn't sure I would after reading the first issue but again in a bought this issue. I'm glad I did. That being said I'm not sure about how I feel about Red Hood being a suspect. The poor guy just gets dumped on non stop by Batman. I love the character of Batman but I have to say I seriously find myself wishing that Red Hood could give him a serious slap down just once.

"You know who I am" A slow issue, but a good one. I like Bendis, here I said it, but I know that he can have little trouble with dialogue sometimes. So I was immensely surprised by how solid the dialogue was in this issue. Not a single line felt off and that Leviathan speech in the morgue was awesome. That whole sequence was pretty good, with Plastic Man masking his nervousness by just refusing to take the villain seriously and throwing bad jokes at him. And I am starting to like this Leviathan character more and more. Especially because of his design. That costume and, above all, the mask look great. Also, Bendis is trying to build something good on the shaky, full of disappointment, foundations laid by Heroes in Crisis. That 's ballsy. Definitely worth reading. more

The hunt is on for Leviathan. Brian Bendis' corkboard two-page splash spread was a brilliant tool to bring me up to date on the many characters and issues coming into this series. Bendis may not be everyone's cup of tea, but he can set a scene as well as anyone working today. Bendis' slam on Columbus, Ohio is cute. One of his classic asides. The Question sequence was classic Question, well presented. However, Alex Maleev blew an opportunity to inject some Plastic Man illustrative fun into what is a pretty dense and dry book. Overall, the issue briskly moved the story forward. Clues as to Leviathan's alter ego have been dropped. The detective team has been assembled. On to issue 3. I liked the story but found the art la cking. Maleev is competent but takes zero risks. His mishandling of Plastic Man, combined with stone faces all around, suggests that he simply is not comfortable with the task at hand. I don't know his work, but my guess is that he doesn't draw the spandex superheroes much. Still, a good story trumps art for me any day. more

The second issue of the event brings more personality to the story, focusing on few of the main characters. We see a bit of Jason Todd, Plastic Man and The Question, all of whom truly deserve to be in the spotlight for once. That one thing I can applaud - Bendis made a good choice not to make this event all about the 4 Pillars of DC, that being Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and Harley Quinn. Give me more Green Arrow, give me Red Hood, and Lois Lane, and Plastic Man, even if his writing here is nowhere near his portrayal by Jeff Lemire in The Terrific series. There's potential to this event, and I sure hope Bendis will do something interesting with it and its characters. For now it's not enough for me to blindly recommend it, but keep an e ye on it, because maybe it'll shake few things a bit and end up being a very needed refreshment among DC's titles. more

I liked this more than issue one, but I hate Plastic Man's humor. I just wish the pacing was a little better, especially considering the ending of this issue isn't a surprise at all if you've read Year of the Villain. And it's taken us two issues to get to the point that most readers were at before the event started.
