Don’t remind me of Harper. She was awful. Duke is ok in Batman& the Outsiders, but I don’t need his character.

Jun 14, 2019Detective Comics is back where it should always have been. What I mean by that is, it's as good if not better than than the main Batman title itself. Tomasi has brought the book back up to that level of quality. Now let's keep it there. Read Full Review

Jun 19, 2019As Walker and Tomasi close out this run, the next issue involving The Spectre will be yet another perfect chance for readers to jump onto the flagship DC title. With Mahnke slated to return to the title in the near future, the Caped Crusader is sure to be headed into some very dark corners of the DCU. Read Full Review

Comic Book Bin - Philip Schweier
Jun 12, 2019Walker, Hennessy and Fairbairn turn in some of the best art of this entire story arc. It's dynamic, it's tricky, and overall effective in conveying the terror, the challenge and the victory of our heroes. I'm usually skeptical when new villains are introduced, but Arkham Knight was provided a pretty substantial stage on which to maker her debut. Read Full Review

Black Nerd Problems - Mikkel Snyder
Jun 12, 2019Tomasi's first post-1000 arc of Detective Comics continues to show that the reason authors gravitate towards Batman, and why we have dozens of stories with him at the center, is because there is simply so much territory that can be covered and presented in unique ways. Batman is an embodiment of human determination, and Tomasi captures both the relentlessness of the character and his deep-seated love for his city. “Medieval,” while not perfect, started laying the groundwork for some very exciting things to come, and I'm ecstatic to see where Detective Comics will go to next. Jun 12, 2019Peter J. Tomasi is one of my favourite writers, and the team of artists he has working with him on this series are pure class. Detective Comics #1005 may not be a literary masterpiece, but I dare you to find a more action packed or entertaining comic to read this week. Go on… I dare ya! Read Full Review

AIPT - David Brooke
Jun 12, 2019A good ending to a story arc that has introduced a very strong new villain to Batman's new rogue's gallery. I take issue with the plan enacted as it seems a bit pointless in the end, but the origin of Arkham Knight and the general aspects of the character prove the character is bound to show up for years to come. Jun 12, 2019Although details of Astrid's plan leave a bit to be desired, DETECTIVE COMICS #1005 works overall. It's got action and tension propelling the narrative, with excellent artwork bringing it to life, so it's worth picking up. Read Full Review

Batman-News - Jay Yaws
Jun 12, 2019This doesn't reinvent the wheel, nor did it set out to in the first place. What this issue of Detective Comics is is an entertaining diversion with some great action set pieces. Tomasi's writing is solid, as always, yet his real strength here is how he lets the artists carry the story as well. There's great teamwork across the board, with Tomasi, Walker, Hennessy, Fairbarin, and Leigh being a true “creative team.” You can't really go wrong with a solid adventure with a breakneck pace and a little bit of weirdness thrown in, which is precisely what Detective Comics #1005 has to offer. Jun 24, 2019I like this issue. However, to say I was not disappointed would be a stretch. I was really hoping to see a villain that Bruce has to fear and consider formidable. In truth, I want him to lose. Maybe that is a personal issue. Read Full Review

Jun 12, 2019I rated this arc well because each issue had cool moments that I really needed to see right now, but there's a lot of problems with the story overall and theclosing issue unfortunately exposed that truth. That said, because of the great moments, I'm really looking forward to more Tomasi on Detective. Read Full Review

Jun 17, 2019VerdictWhile the mechanics of this story are solid, Astird's motivation and background make her a forgettable character. Batman and Robin shine, though as Tomasi continues to have fun with this one-of-a-kind father and son duo. Don't be surprised to find a smile on your face as a little bit of camp goes a long way. Though Astrid escapes interment at Blackgate, let's hope she just keeps out of trouble and Detective Comics finds some better Bat-villains. Read Full Review

Comic Crusaders - Daniel Clark
Jun 13, 2019Detective Comics #1005 marks the end of the first Arkman Knight arc and considering the build-up it is a finale that stumbles as it ends. Where the desire to leave room open for future tales leads to an ending lacking in consequence. Prior to that though we are given a generally enjoyable Batman and Robin romp that is refreshing with its throwback tones. All of this leads to an uneven issue that will hopefully lead to better things down the line. Read Full Review

Jun 12, 2019Coming off the Reaper-focused annual just two weeks ago, the conclusion of the Arkham Knight story in Detective Comics #1005 suffers by comparison " the scale is bigger, but Astrid Arkham's evil plot is so over the top and lacks any internal logic that it doesn't work at all.
