If the Birds of Prey have one mission, it's protect Barbara Gordon at all costs, and that mission is...not going great. Dinah and her team search for Barbara in this strange new world that seems specifically designed to trip them up. Many mysteries lurk in the dark of this world, and some of them don't even want to kill you...probably.

You have got to be kidding me. I have no idea what's going on, or what will happen next. Everything about this arc is madness, yet I couldn't put Birds of Prey #9 down. This has been a fantastic run, and I pray that it continues for a long, long time. I'm so happy that we're around to see this new set of characters come together. Read Full Review

Great vibes of Venom and Eddie Brock at their funniest. But don't expect to be laughing for longthe reveal at the end of the issue leads to some of the creepiest segments Kelly Thompson has ever written, with Case's art shifting brilliantly to depict a truly horrific monster. The fast pace works very well hereit keeps us in the Birds' shoes as the ground keeps shifting, never letting them or us get our footing. Read Full Review

Birds of Prey #9 is a lot of set-up for this roadtrip through the Multiverse to save Barbara Gordon. With this being more of an intro to this new story arc the narrative is carried by the Birds of Prey chemistry and the way they react to the first world they visit. Read Full Review

DC Comics News - Matthew Lloyd

    May 07, 2024

Birds of Prey #9 strays further from the what makes the Birds of Prey the Birds of Prey. Ill suited humor and a tone and milieu that resembles the Doom Patrol are the biggest culprits. Coupled with the fact that the story barely moves forward, the issue is relies on the out of place elements to carry it. There's little substance to what transpires and it seems to set up a meandering arc that will end in a "surprise. There are some elements that have potential, but not in within the pages of Birds of Prey. Birds Of Prey #9 is a waste of time, space, and money. The plot goes nowhere and makes no sense, Thompson's character work and story structure are abysmal, and the series as a whole is getting worse, not better. Read Full Review
