TBH, it was brave of North to pick up what could be considered a poisoned chalice - a project that was built up with months of hype only to fall flat and get swept under the rug. Seeing him offer a bit of cheeky meta-critique through Mia's impatience with Wyn is somewhat rewarding (Wyn does get gradually less sympathetic through the course of G.O.D.S. #1-8, and the final issue spotlighting him doesn't help that at all), and if this were setting up a revitalised G.O.D.S. series with North at the helm, I'd be intrigued. more

I thoroughly enjoyed this issue. I'm not usually a fan of the magic side of Marvel. Don't care about Dr. Strange or any of that stuff. I somewhat enjoyed GODS, but more for its potential than what it actually was. I'm not a big fan of Doom either, but I appreciated the character building this issue did with him. The dialogue was fantastic, the art was solid and the story was interesting. I expected this book to be around a 7 for me, I was very pleasantly surprised. more

Not exactly original but an exiting story with dynamic art and full of twists and turns.

This isn’t Jed McKay‘s worst writing, however we‘ve seen it all before. Age of Revelation is nothing new. In fact, it’s a rehash of Age of Apocalypse, a concept that didn’t work for me in the 90s and doesn’t work for me now ( or the half a dozen other times Marvel has tried to shock us with an alternate version of the X-Men). I’m not interested in other versions of the X-Men and I don’t want to buy sixteen new titles to get one story that we all know didn’t happen in the end anyway. I want good stories featuring the characters I know and love, but Marvel doesn’t seem to be interested in grounded storytelling anymore.

Between Marvel trying to gaslight us into believing Ms. Marvel is the greatest mutant ever and this redundant crossover bullshit, I can only come to the conclusion that the X-Men I love are dead and gone.

Is the art good at least? Hell, no. It’s Humberto Ramos.

Pretty decent, although it doesn't feel like an X-Men book. This feels very YA/teen (I would say 'New Mutants' instead of 'teen', but this group doesn't hold a candle to the OG New Mutants). Trying to be patient in allowing the new characters to breathe, but we really just need 1 book with new teens, not 2.

Let the grown ups play please.

Okay, I didn't want to read the X-books anymore, but this one looked pretty good - at first glance. So here we go....

First of all, someone should tell Gail Simone that her obvious LGBTQ+ allegory isn't working. For some reason, Marvel and literally the whole mainstream publishing industry are pushing the narrative that "queer people" are being oppressed by, well... everyone, while at the same time, these same people dominate the entertainment industry and try to force everybody into participating in their delusional neo-religion. Hollywood producing anti-trans... sorry, anti-mutant propaganda? Only in your wet dreams of perpetual victimhood, Ms. Simone! And before you ask, I'm one of the people you call "queer" (actually I'm just gay), so I think I'm allowed to critique my own so-called community.

Aside from this problematic and frankly bullshit message (and a very rushed ending), the issue is pretty well done. I'm usually not a fan of Vecchio's boringly clean and sometimes cutesy artwork, but in this issue he did a great job, especially when it comes to natural body poses. I also really like the Outliers - in contrast to the insufferable brats over in Exceptional X-Men. Their dialogue and interactions feel natural to me. more

I could write a detailed review, but I just don't know where to begin. Everything about this issue is horrible - the story, the art, the dialogue and especially the forced shipping of characters. Let's not even talk about Ororo's pregnancy test. It's as close to a saccharine Manga comic for girls as a superhero comic can get. You'd have to pay me to read another issue of this poor quality.

I'll probably check in again with the x-books in a few years, when all this woke bullshit has faded out of existence, but for the time being, I'm done. This was the final straw. more
