Deep in the cosmos, an intergalactic inquisition descends upon Apokolips and New Genesis, carrying with it a sinister message: convert or be destroyed. Meanwhile on Earth, Mister Miracle and Big Barda, with their baby in tow, seek out the mysterious child spoken of in Metron's prophecy, desperate to find him before Orion does. Could this child--this new god--be the universe's savior? Or could he be the reincarnation of the universe's greatest evil?
This possibility of discovering something new every issue will drive me back to this series over and over again as long as this creative team is on it. Read Full Review
This is definitely one of the most fascinating and ambitious books on the stands right now. Read Full Review
New Gods #3 continues to balance epic world-building with personal family drama and as someone who loves mythology, world religions, and anthropology, this might be the best issue of the series yet for V, Evan Cagle, Federici, and colorist Francesco Segala. Read Full Review
The New Gods #3 is an inspired look into what war will bring you to do, as well as how things could always be different in the absence of it, through the incredible storytelling prowess of all those involved in the creation of it. Read Full Review
The latest installment of Fourth World drama steers into the past for its drive. Ram V directs traffic into a multi-stationed tale. The art team brings high skill to this area while grounding events back in the present. With many moving parts, delaying to jump on board is simply not an option. Read Full Review
Overall, The New Gods #3 is a captivating and thought-provoking entry in the series. It delivers on the promise of epic cosmic storytelling, exploring complex themes with stunning visuals. The New Gods #3turns the fancy meter up to 11 and the pretentious knob to Max when readers get a space opera of kingly proportions to explain how the child at the center of this arc came to be. Ram V's penchant for overwriting and overthinking the simplest ideas is on full display. The mashup between past and present is so discontinuous that your eyeballs will trip trying to read this comic, and the whole thing wraps up with a basic, unfinished car chase. Whatever page rates Ram V is getting paid for this series, it's too high. That said, the score earns bonus points for gorgeous art.5/10 Read Full Review
The table is set and Ram V, and Evan Cagle move this cosmic drama along with guest Federici making an appearance. It goes without out saying this new New Gods comic is a real looker, that embraces the idea that if you're going to tell stories about next level space gods, you should try your hardest to make them look different than the other books in distribution. This is an easy recommendation to me.
Much better than last issue. And I don’t think it’s pretentious at all. Just a really great book.
Ignore what gabe says and enjot the book (=
I’m not a fan of two artists on one issue, even if both artists are as excellent as Cagle and Federici.
