All-New All-Different Avengers #12

I love this team and for the most part this series, but this arc has kind of seemed lazy. Sure, the story is entertaining, but there was no depth to it. There were numerous artistic inconsistencies throughout this arc as well, making me feel like the editors were also pretty blase about this story. I'm hoping it'll pick up from here.

Really fun concept that was, for the most part, decently pulled off. I was slightly annoyed at how Spider-Mole was suddenly able to see at the end of his bit. Mostly, I did not see a reason to include Natasha Allegri's story in it at all. The story and art were a mess, but mostly, why include a She-Hulk story in an Avengers book? Did they ask her to come up with something and she completely missed what she was writing for but because of deadlines they printed it!? Ugh. Anyways, other than that, the rest of the stories work well as fan fiction adaptations.

This whole arc was terrible. Despite Mark Waid's numerous disappointments as of late, this one sunk to new depths. Disorganized, unneeded, and not the least bit interesting. It got to the point of being just aggravating to push on. In Mark Waid's finale during his run here to "get Captain America" back to his roots, he completely abandoned Captain America for the final 4 chapters. Nothing this whole run was original or exciting. Thank God this is over. Excited to see what Ta-Nehisi Coates has to offer.

I wanted so badly to like this title. From the childish, loopy writing that never takes the story anywhere, to the poor art everywhere outside of the 2 pages in which Ghost Rider gets a chance to be the hero in his own comic, this may be one of the worst comics I've read. I long for a resurgence in Ghost Rider, no matter which version, but this creative team is not the one to deliver it.

It's always great to take a step back and do a character study of the titular hero. Just as it is intriguing to watch Matt Murdock in the courtroom, it's fascinating to see Tony the business mogul in his environment. Lots of character development for Stark's character and his mentality during the Civil War II event. Great pacing in the book, and more introduction and characterization of our future Iron Maiden Riri. This was an outstanding issue in Bendis' run.

This whole arc feels like I'm reading Wonder Woman extra lite. The story feels like it has absolutely no impact on Wonder Woman as a character, and the writing feels like that of a fifth grade fan fiction project. While there are a few cool moments of art in this, Heart of the Amazon is a low point in what has otherwise been a fantastic book.
