Harley Quinn: Futures End #1

A bit too wordy for my taste. It has some fun moments, like the "Princess-Queen-Goodness" nickname, though. Still, it was a decent read, especially if you enjoy Amanda Conner's art. Between the artwork and the cover, this one is definitely staying in my collection, even if the story doesn't have much to say.

Flash Vol. 1: The Dastardly Death of Rogues

The Flash Vol. 1: The Dastardly Death of the Rogues is an entertaining story that reintroduces the character after Flash Rebirth. Francis Manapul's art gets the job done, although his work would become even better during the New 52 era.
The whole story feels like a setup for future storylines, planting many of the doubts and conflicts that Barry Allen will eventually face on the road to Flashpoint.
The Secret Files material is fine, mainly because of the character guide for the new volume, but there's nothing particularly remarkable about it.

Mystik U has a strong setup and a diverse cast of characters, but the story feels rushed and, in some ways, inconclusive by the end. While the main plot wraps up well, some subplots are left hanging. I enjoyed the art, and it was a fun introduction to Zatanna. It's a shame it never got a sequel, because it feels like there was still a lot of potential left to explore.

Planet Of The Apes Vs. Fantastic Four #1

A fun and entertaining introduction to this new crossover. The crossover between the fantastic four and the planet of apes feels very natural, as both franchises are pillars of modern sciencie fiction. The art is good and the fantastic apes have potential.
My only problem is that this miniseries is 4 issues long and and there are only three issues left. The next issue needs to move the story forward if they want to tell a good story. Doom is always appreciated.

Great art by Jorge Jimenez. This issue works as a solid introduction to the new creative team on Batman. That said, I’m not a big fan of standalone stories in every issue of the main Batman title. I feel like that format works better for other franchises, like the Fantastic Four.
Maybe it’s just Batman fatigue, but I think I’ll stick to reading this run in TPB or HC format… though I might check it out online as well.

Flash: Rebirth Vol. 1

Flash: Rebirth is an epic comic book that follows the return of Barry Allen. It draws heavily on established lore, so it feels more like a continuation of Barry Allen’s entire history than a self-contained story. Still, it’s a very entertaining adventure. Its strongest aspects are Eobard Thawne as an obsessive villain once again, and the spectacular artwork by Ethan Van Sciver.
P.S.: Eobard Thawne is easily the biggest hater in DC Comics—just throw him into the sun while he’s powerless.

This is the first issue of Absolute Batman I’ve picked up. The series feels really entertaining, especially with its fresh take on classic villains.
The art is top-tier, no complaints there, and the whole chainsaw Batman thing is way more fun than it probably should be. I also really like the character design for the original Poison Ivy . Eric Canete feels like the perfect fit for this two-part arc.
Now I just need to get my hands on that Canete variant cover!

This is the second issue I’ve picked up. It offers a really interesting perspective on Batman’s character development.
He’s becoming more isolated, colder and more distant from his friends. I really like how they’re starting to notice his absence, especially with him missing his weekly visits.
I’m not sure how to feel about this Martha Wayne, though. Anyway, the art is top-tier—honestly, even better than the last issue.

In this new issue, Absolute Scarecrow makes his debut, and he already feels genuinely terrifying and dangerous. Dragotta’s art is excellent as always, and the buildup to this issue’s big moment is really well done. I’m expecting Bruce’s friends to come back and support him after this arc—he really needs it. Poor guy.
Very excited for the next issue featuring the Absolute Robins!
