THE DISPATCHOh boy readers, this one is good! This is the first issue that truly felt like HOXPOX in quite some time. This issue of X DEATHS OF WOLVERINE had all the feels of POWERS OF X mixed with some elements of TERMINATOR and beyond. Plus, the gray areas are so dang gray. Is Moira now the villain or are the mutants the truly devious ones? And after this issue of X DEATHS OF WOLVERINE, I half wonder if Moira is responsible for the Future we witnessed in POWERS OF X. This continues to be perfect! This has been one of my favorite stories I've ever read. The threads that lead to past X-Men and wolverine books. The threads that tie back to hox and pox. This is a masterpiece!! I have absolutely loved wolverine since I was a kid and this ranks up towards the top for me. I love having the Laura scout and daken working together in this as well. I'd love a series with all of them together. I average around 10 books a week on my pull list and I'm having trouble getting to all of th because I just keep rereading this story! Benjamin Percy is unbelievably great at writing wolverine and I couldn't be happier.

This side of the story knows what it is about and does it well to usher the Krakoan age forward while the other side is running around like a chicken with no head but at least has Cassara flexing his art muscles. X Deaths should have been the only book out unless we get an X Lives tie-in worth this ping pong game. Vicentini is awesome yet again although some action sequences can improve.

As the big picture plot comes into focus, this starts to look like "Powers of X" fanfiction. Not necessarily *bad* fanfiction, though. The plot is fascinating and the pace remains thrilling, with plenty of cool action. But this issue is far from perfect. Characterization suffers during all the plot development. Scout doesn't really sound like Scout; Moira is sliding into Terminator clichés. I'm still liking the art. The visual flow seems to be improving, particularly in the action scenes. But there are some potentially-cool details that are either too easy to overlook or downright illegible.

This has good stuff in it, but it's just not executed as well as it could be, in my opinion. The stuff with Moira was probably my favorite here in terms of the story, but the Wolverine stuff bringing in Laura, Scout, and Daken was far from bad. Some of the dialogue, particularly when Daken begins fighting with Logan, wasn't my absolute favorite. Vicentini's art fits a lot better with that half of the book, though, as there's more action.
