You Don't Read Comics - David Harth

Wolverine #28 is fantastic, and thats all there is to it. Percy has excelled in this new story, really capturing the pain and despair of Wolverine and the monstrousness of Beast. Ryp and DArmata do an awesome job on the art. Without their terrific work, this chapter wouldnt hit nearly as hard. Wolverine has always been good, but this issue is a real killer. Read Full Review

    COMICON - Scott Redmond

'Wolverine' takes a slightly different approach in walking down a heavily traveled road, mostly spinning its proverbial wheels before slightly advancing the overall plotline. The approaching new year could bring something far less rerun-like for the clawed mutant, but all signs are pointing towards the outlook not being good. Read Full Review

Wolverine has always been my favorite character and this run continues to be one of the best ever. Benjamin Percy loves the character and it shows! Like usual there are many references to wolverine's past storylines influencing the way he is being written and showcasing a real knowledge for the character. Some of the things this made me think of is the original weapon x story, and Daniel way's wolverine origins where he remembered some of the awful things he had done. Also even in this feral state he rescued a drowning kid. Which is right on par with wolverine and reminds me of the way he acted when his mind started going feral after he lost his adamantium. he had become dangerous and feral but still went into a burning building to rescue a more

Another strong issue for the series. This was a bit of a quicker read with Wolverine's relatively simplistic inner monologue, but everything was still done really well here, in my opinion. This is definitely the best this series has been since the first issue, and I hope it stays that way.

The script is simple, but I recognize that that's by design. It works nicely, buoyed aloft by some excellent art. While Wolverine's personal plot takes a step forward, it's clear the bigger story is happening over in X-Force. This makes a good companion piece, though.

Beast is the dumbest planner of all time and nobody really questions him. Like everybody on Krakoa knows he's doing shady stuff and his only excuse is Wolverine went on a secret mission that he can't talk about. That's all this genius war criminal could've come up with? Wtf? Also why such an important moment like Beast's court hearing was given in text form. X-desk has been a major plot thread why it's suddenly a backup material

I hate giving an issue such a low rating, but I came away from this issue feeling incredibly disappointed. I was expecting a continuation of the story that was told in X-Force #35, but given what Beast was allowed to get away with, I couldn't tell where this issue was supposed to be placed and that was distracting. The supporting cast also felt lackluster this issue, neither Hope nor Sage pushed back enough against Beast and his very obvious evil schemes. And Logan's limited narration did not help the issue at all either, I feel like we missed out on some true world building outside of a few data pages that just drive home how corrupted and unsalvageable Beast is at this point.
