Venom #30 begins the big fight we've been waiting for: Eddie Brock vs. Meridius. The comic starts out real strong as it gets right into the action with Eddie taking on his variants in the Garden of Time, some more hostile than others. And the art team do a great job bringing this symbiote action to life. But right when it starts to get better, a new major development occurs that may either turn readers off, make them more excited, or just outright confuse them. If nothing else, readers can expect an explanation in the next few issues for this reveal, if the series' track record is anything to go by. Read Full Review

If this is really how Al Ewing's radical reinvention of Venom is coming to an end, or at least choosing to conclude its largest storyline, it's one of the most disappointing ways a Marvel series has gone out in a while. Read Full Review

It seems I liked this more than most. Though, like others, I don't entirely know how I feel about Carnage's involvement in all of this. As of this moment, I do think it's a pretty interesting twist and I'm looking forward to seeing where it goes, despite me not particularly caring for too much for Carnage as a character. Hopefully this ends up leading to something good, because I do understand other people's disliking and/or unsureness of this.

This issue was pretty cool. Just like in the issue, I feel like we as the reader broke the cage and can finally move on.

This has felt overly done for me. It's down from the height of last issue. It's just that the way Meridius is addressed and Carnage's involvement just feels disjointed. But I'll let Ewing deliver an arc before fully judging it.

Ewing phones in another issue, and this time he's calling collect. Getting it out of the way, the art is fine. Cafu is actually really good, and I have no notes. The story, however, is a mess. Somehow, Ewing has found a way to make a cosmic time taveling identity crisis boring as $#!%. I get the distinct impression he's lost the plot and is hacking this out until someting more interesting comes along. It's telling that I look forward to the issues by Ewing's co-writers, and dread his return. The shocking twist at the end, the one symbiote that won't listen to Eddie? Who could it be? ...It's Carnage. &%$#ing Duh! Of course it's Carnage. I cant' wait for this to be done, and we can get back to Dylan and Venom.

It's really hard to give my thoughts on this comic. It can either be an interesting cliffhanger, or a major disappointment. Only time will tell. But one of the praises I must give is that Bedlam II: Legend of the Curly's Gold is very funny.
