You Don't Read Comics - Russ Bickerstaff

The series reaches its mid-point next month. MacKay and company have rigidly defined the parameters of the rest of the series by the end of the second issue. There seems to be more than enough magic around the edges of the story to maintain the possibility of the unexpected sneaking up on the narrative from a number of different directions. Its neat. Its tidy. And its got just the right amount of chaos woven into its heart. Read Full Review

'Mary Jane & Black Cat' #2 keeps up the same amazing energy that the feline thief enjoyed in her own solo series, but takes it up a whole other notch with the character dynamics as well as the fantastical setting and players added to the board. There is a powerful flow that moves through all pieces of work in this comic, creating something that is solidly amazing and fun from start to finish that is worth revisiting over and over till the next issue arrives. Between the splashy setting and wide array of conflicts (i.e. secrets between friends and who will rule hell), Mary Jane & Black Cat is a bona fide highlight of "Dark Web." Read Full Review

Well, I'm still loving this. The visuals are great. The dialogue is strong, perhaps not the author's very best, but still hugely entertaining. What's best of all is the way the words and art combine to put multiple layers of content on the same page. This is a fast, action-heavy issue, but it doesn't feel short or simplistic. At several points, we're getting visual action + narration + conversation + an aside conversation, and it never gets confusing. Though it's slightly frustrating that the leads haven't unpacked their romantic baggage or the specifics of MJ's missing time, at least we get a thorough breakdown of the mechanics of MJ's new powers.

Another entertaining issue. I don't like how Felicia's main focus is on how to tell MJ about her and Peter, but I can't blame MacKay too much for that. He can't focus on MJ either too much, since we still don't know what happened and MacKay can't talk about it. So it's as good as a tie-in like this could be, and none of it is thanks to Wells and Lowe.

This was another fun issue. I'm still not sold on Mary Jane having powers when they could have made a fighter with some help from tech from Tony, but here we are. The chemistry between the two characters really works. It was neat to see a villain show up from Jane Foster's books.

This was fine. Hardly ties into Dark Web which is to it's benefit but like Afre pointed out not much can be said here because MacKay is just waiting for Wells to do what he's going to do. MacKay still manages to make it entertaining and this pair that he's brought together is written phenomenally.

This is just pure speculation on my part. I have no inside info, and many of my predictions have been wrong in the past, so take this with a giant grain of salt. But I now believe that Mary Jane's kids as seen in recent Amazing Spider-man issues are her biological, not step, kids. What makes me think that? In the latest MJ and Black Cat issue, Cat mentions MJ was gone for six months. MJ says yeah six months in such say that it leads me to believe she was in some dimension where time travels differently, so she had time to birth two kids. There may be some sort of variation on this, but you get my drift. Why would Marvel do this? Reason one, the editors are tools and don't want a married Peter because he is unrelatable. I guess that sh more
