2099 was reintroduced as a glimpse into the future. As it turns out, that is all this is, a glimpse. While books like Punisher and Conan were fantastic, it turns out the core of the concept was just another look at a Spider-Man origin story. If this had been the intro for an ongoing, it could have been something more. As such, the ending is somewhat dissatisfying and leaves the reader wanting more. Read Full Review

This was basically Spider-Man 2099 #2. I enjoyed it, but it had a definite non-ending to it. I understand that it's supposed to usher in a new age of heroes, and that's what this event has really been about, but Doctor Doom is still running things at the end. The heroes have hope, I guess, but things are still incredibly bad for everyone. I hope that this week's Amazing Spider-Man, that I haven't read yet, offers clarity on this.

Well, it wasn't that bad actually. Pretty okay too, like ASM #36. I didn't like this storyline very much, but I would be interested to see more.

An okay story with an okay conclusion. Nothing special, definitely underwhelming, but it seems that this will very likely be continued sometime in the future.

The Omega closes out 2099 as a non-event. It was all setup and no payoff. An origin. An act one. Blah. The "Doom over all" aspect might tempt you to compare this to Secret Wars 2099, which is a way better story. But the closest analogue is really that Marvel Knights 20th miniseries from a few months back. They share a "heroes sloooowly waking up in a world without superheroes" premise, and they have similar "total lack of closure" problems.
