Infinity Wars #2

While I hold cautious optimism about this series considering the bang-up start it has had, I am concerned about how far it will be allowed to go.  Is this a permanent sea change for the Marvel Universe, or will we find in issue #6 that it was all some kind of Elseworld/Dallas dream sequence? Given what has happened already and the speed with which it happened, I hope we're seeing a real change in the future of the heroes involved as well as the larger Marvel Universe going forward. Part two of the Infinity Wars saga gives the readers more action and mystery. There is a nice setup for issues going forward. The art does not always fit the story being told, but it does always look good. This is a pretty good chapter to the story, and you should enjoy it enough to want to be invested in future issues. Infinity Wars #2 was a step up from the first issue. Gerry Duggan made Gamora look like an absolute badass with how she took down the Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy. Unfortunately this issue was held back by some questionable story choices that dragged the epic potential of Infinity Wars. I'm enjoying Duggan's style very much here and on board this crazy story until the wheels fall off(we'll see). Deodato's art and Martin' colors are top notch but some panels weren't clear which hindered the flow a bit.

Artwork is great, story arc is pretty okay. Turk makes this much more interesting and their team-up could be something great. I actually don't know what happens next, Gamora with Infinity Stones and Loki whispering in her ear.

Surprised to see the writer cover what would normally take 4 issues in two. The pacing of this series certainly helps. It's not a bad story either so far . Deodato is on point as always. I'm not sure what it is about this series I guess it's just that jaded feeling from knowing nothing is permanent that takes away from this series. Still it's on the right track to being one of Marvel's better events

OVERVIEW Infinity Wars #2 a) Writing/Script= 5.5/10 (G. Duggan) b) Art= 8.3/10 (Mike Deodato) c) Colours= 8.6/10 (Frank Martin) Average= 7.47/10 Three issues into this series (including the Prime issue) and i am already loosing interest in this series. There was nothing in this issue that really blew my mind. Writer Gerry Duggan also didnt do any great work in keeping us feelling anticipated for the next issue. Let me start off with the art, which is the positive side of this review. The art by Mike Deodato is phenomenal, especially on Thanos. The art is so on point and it was the main reason why i loved the Infinity Wars Prime #1 and Infinity Wars #1. It kept this book alive and honestly speaking, i think the art will be the only thing keeping the whole event alive. Another individual that excelled was Frank Martin. His work on the colours for this book is just enough a feast for my two eyes. These two gentlemen are enough to make your time reading this book, worth it. Now for the script. There were many times i questioned this book while reading it as there were many plot holes and those plot holes really bothered me, but i chose to ignore it. Like Dr Strange could have used the Time stone in many occasions and Black Widow holding a Space stone flying towards Requiem who is trying to collect the Infinity stones is the most stupid thing i have ever seen. Then the motivation of the villain for this event, which is Requiem. Her motivation is to reunite with the other half of her soul that is trapped in the Soul world. At first, i thought that motivation was ok but as the more i read these books the more i feel the motivation is boring and uninteresting. But all that aside, shouldnt Requiem be reuniting with the other half of her soul in the climax of the series instead of now itself? Yeah, whatever. Plus, for some reason the deaths in these books dont really feel that important or impactful eventhough some of them are involving big characters. I just dont feel the stakes of this book. Another thing is that i am not a fan of grounded characters wielding Infinity stones. Like Turk with the Mind Stone and Black Widow with the Space Stone. It just feels like a boring idea. Finally, why the HECK is it taking this cosmic level event this much time to go off Earth?!?! It is so annoying. It is literally taking place in a park and Requiem collected about 4 to 5 of the Infinity stones on the park itself?! Ok, i can go on all day about this book but overall i would say that i have no idea what Gerry Duggan is trying to do with this event. The art and colouring is awesome but the script is mediocre. more

This is going downhill very fast. Art is superb but story is a mess. It’s all over the place. Not a good way to continue the series. And next month, the spin-off one shots begin and now I fear for their quality as well. I give this one more issue and if this continues, I’m out.

Infinity Stone powers make the battle for possessing them tricky, but Gamora's the big winner. This issue seems to be an abrupt end to the Stones' Earth connections and a launching pad for all-new cosmic weirdness. That suits me just fine. I appreciate the good work that went into scripting this big fight; I wish it was supported by stronger visuals. The character portrayals are OK, but the art fails to illustrate the use of the Stones well. Us clever readers are left to puzzle it out from the words. Credit to the colorist - he does help. But with better art, we wouldn't NEED clues like "green wash = active Time Stone."

I don't know if Duggan know what he do. Because I certainly not understand a bunch of what I read. Like what happen with Turk. That seems cruel. I have the same feeling with Gamora than with Psyloke in Claremont hand. To damn powerfull. I understand that he want her to have each stone. I understand that she is the best killer in the univers. And she prove it by killing Thanos. But there, I don't see Gamora. Or even a Gamora controlled by Thanos. I see a bunch of crap ... Because the fighting beyond the one lead by Gamora made no sense. The one dying wasn't tragic, he even correct the only tragic death sadly. Cover - The connecting variant. I feel like this will be one of the only pleasure I have with this title. Nice but not related to w hat I read 1/2 Writing - What a mess. Maybe 6 part will be to much. 1.5/3 Arts - Love Deaodato ... But for one his layout don't help understanding what happen. True that his character feel powerfull when they are together in the same picture. But for a fight he wasn't the good chose. 2.5/3 Feeling - My good I feel like the same taste than with Original Sin. A great art for a really dumb story. 0/2 more

So far this is very confusing. The saga of Gamora trying to retrieve the other part of her soul is just not very compelling. With fhe previous miniseries the story feels like it has been going on forever. The character of Turk and the villaiins made no sense and felt like filler. Too many characters and too little development. Why bring back Adam Warlock if he is hardy going to speak? The most interesting part is the Loki subplot. Mike Deodato is a great artist but totally wrong for a cosmic book. His art is too pictorial, realistic and earthy. A dissapointment so far.
