This ultimately is the big flaw of the book, but leaves it as a decent starting point at least if the ensuing books build up our theme and characters. Aug 04, 2018Is this event worth the entry fee? That's going to be an individual answer based on your collecting. For those who want to get into comics and enjoyed the movies then I'd say, go for it. The story and the art is looking like they will make a great event, and with luck, people buying in will find characters they gravitate to and then hopefully they will start collecting the ongoing series that those characters are in. If you're in the mood for a tie-in heavy, cosmic summer comic event series, this might be up your ally, but it really feels very much like a cash in event book Marvel doesn't want to admit to at the moment. This was a great first issue. Duggan delivers a nice setup up for the infinity watch along with loki's quest for answers. Some characters shine while others are background. Will wait and see how they're handled in later issues. Mike Deodato delivered his best art in a long while. From the first page i knew that he brought his A-game to this book. Frank Martin's colors were perfect.

I thought it will be mindblowing and had high expectations but sadly the book did not meet my expectations. Maybe i feel like that because i already had the Requiem's secret identity and a particular death in this book, spoiled for me. Plus, this issue was quite slow. I was constantly reminding myself the number of pages left to finish the book. The art by Mike Deadato and colours by Frank Martin are so far the best part of this event. Its perfect. Gerry Duggan on the other side isnt impressing me with the writing. I hope he improves in the future. But i am still k more

Good start to the main event, although not as good as the Countdown yet. Deodato's art kind of works here as it sets a dark tone for the story, but the panels are off as always.

Not bad. Doesn't bring that heavy punch you want from an event but it's not a terrible start like so many marvel events. The cast was great and they worked well together. Some of the minor characters got a bit more interesting thanks to Duggans witty banter. Good start.

This is a good issue because we have Turk, Bullseye, Guardians and Thanos in the same setting with infinity stones. I'm very glad that this isn't just a sequel to Infinity Gauntlet or a comic version of Avengers: Infinity War. Gamora's actions could use a bit more of exploring, but otherwise a very enjoyable read. Not great, nor awesome, but good enough.

I left Countdown with a mixed felling, and the Infinity Wars Prime didn't help at all with a issue I didn't like much. So I expected a lot of this issue. The starting point is very good. I really like Turk entourage. And even if I'm not fond of it, they give right away the identity of requiem. I find that very logic. But their is something, I don't know what, let me a bad taste about this reading. Yet, the fact that turn in a fist fight wasn't very surprising. Not original for sure, but not surprising. Cover - I take the connecting version. Love it even if for now I didn't see the link. 1/2 Writing - Duggan start very nicely but at the end I let the story not really reassure. 2/3 Ars - Deodato rule. Deodato's art is the reason to read this issue. Gorgeous in every way. Oh, you are asking about the story??? Well, meh. I can't help to always compare to the Infinity Gauntlet classic and this just doesn't hold up well. I'm at a loss as to why Sandman and The Spot are even involved. And the reveal of Requiem was supposed to be jaw dropping but I didn't even get excited and neither with the cliffhanger. I will continue to read to see where this goes but so far, not excited.

Dr. Strange's sad Infinity Watch is assembled. (Ugh, Bullseye. Really?) Towards the end, plot developments develop dramatically and the forward progress is blissfully welcome. Requiem's identity is revealed and that's just the first of the climax's double-barreled surprises. The script drops signals suggesting that this ridiculous plot was once supposed to be EVEN MORE labyrinthine: When did Thor meet "King Thor"? When did Iron Lad sub in for Kang? What's the Kree trouble Carol is supposedly dealing with? Life of Captain Marvel, which just started? I feel again like the kid pointing out the naked emperor when it comes to the art.
