Bennett delivers some great drama with the art in this issue. Most of the story is a back and forth between Hulk and Betty and it's handled in a way where both sides feel equally represented. A great visual touch that makes the story relatable. Read Full Review

In a quieter issue, Immortal Hulk #48 slows things down to allow Joe Fixit and Betty Ross a chance to speak their minds. It pays off, with thoughtful commentary on their desires and fears, but also who they really are underneath the ghastly monsters they walk the Earth with. It's Immortal Hulk, it's perfect. A lot of character was snuck into this issue. Also, I wholeheartedly agree with Al Ewing's recommendation that you read "Who Remembers Scorpio?" A fantastic story that I was lucky to come across on my own while reading up on Moon Knight.

I would give a lot for Bennet to draw She-Hulk 24/7. I love the way that Ewing writes her too and doesn't make her Savage side look stupid , as opposed to Aaron's writing on the current Avengers. That's all the comparisons I'm going to speak on for this review, because Immortal Hulk will win against any other title currently on stands if I continued to do that. It was great to see Harpy reunite with the Hulk. Though to see her be so head-over-heel's for Joe Fixit surprised me. I was not aware that she had a specific personality that she latched on to in her relationship with Bruce. But to see after all that, her still desire the milksop, was touching. Betty genuinely loves all parts of Bruce, but favoritism has become a coping mechani sm in her case dealing with a mate who has a psyche wrought with MPD. Fixit's non-chalant attitude towards Banner seems like a front. But, affection would not really fit his "machismo" attitude, so that 's expected. I'm glad to see there is more titles spinning off of this series, and the scenes with the memories between Betty & Bruce were a thing of beauty. Betty and Joe steal a moment for a stunning heart-to-heart. It's one of the quietest issues of the series and it's absolutely gripping thanks to flawless character work, beautifully real-sounding dialogue, and tremendous insight. The art's no slouch, either, even when it's taking a break from body horror. Plus, there's exactly enough outside perspective (from Jennifer Walters and Jackie McGee) to give contrast to the core conversation -- and to bump the plot along a little.

I can really feel the complicated relationship between Hulk and Betty here. They've been through so much and although all parts of the Hulk love Betty, Betty was never given a chance to love all of the Hulk. They're all trying to improve themselves by growing more dimensions, but everybody really does go at their own pace. By the time this series ends, it looks like there's going to be a long journey for the Hulks going forward.

Excellent dialogues, Hulk and Betty in a complicated relationship but that does not prevent them from loving each other. It is a really thoughtful and solid delivery.

Betty/Red Harpy and Joe Fixit are such a fun dynamic that will be greatly missed. Though Gamma Flight seems to have a good amount of correlation with Immortal Hulk, I wonder if Ewing's Defenders will be the same way. And also, 80 pages for issue #50? Count me in!

For me this was one of the weaker issues just because it didn’t pack the same punch most issues do but that’s not to say I didn’t enjoy the issue.

this was a heart to heart between Betty and the Hulk, well placed, maybe necessary. But there are still many questions in the air, I don't know if they can rescue Bruce but they will surely try.

I love Immortal Hulk but Betty is just a tired, always complaining chick to me. Bruce is better off without her; he has his own things to deal with. This was just a tie in to the future Defenders book coming out next month. This issue wasn't really needed but its ok nevertheless.
