But Why Tho? - Collier "CJ" Jennings

Heroes Reborn #4 provides a massive revelation concerning the origin of the new Marvel Universe while putting Marvel's cosmic heroes front and center. Now that the main threat behind the universe stands revealed, and the Avengers are slowly but surely reassembling, I can't wait to see what the rest of the series brings now that we've hit the halfway point. Conceptually, this story does a lot of things correct. Enough things to get an emotional reaction out of me about Doctor Spectrum and Rocket. Read Full Review

    AIPT - David Brooke

If it wasn't clear to you yet, Heroes Reborn is all about going for broke with crazy stakes and even crazier ideas. It almost seems like a reaction to DC Comics' Death Metal, only it's not taking itself too seriously, and we know it'll all be reset before too long. The best advice when reading Heroes Reborn might be to remember what it was like to smash action figures together when you were little and not caring one bit if anyone is watching while a big grin forms across your face. Truthfully, more is needed to keep this event alive. An event that began with excitement and intrigue has turned dull and mild. Readers need more than one-shot bio pieces with one-page cliffhangers. If you're curious about the SQUADRON SUPREME or Doctor Spectrum, this issue is for you. Otherwise, you can pass and really not miss a beat in the entire story to this point. Let me know what you think, have a great week, and God bless! Read Full Review

Stokoe has an interesting visual eye and style. Unfortunately, the cartoonish nature of the plot emphasized the wrong things in the art. Read Full Review

    COMICON - Olly MacNamee

    May 28, 2021

Doctor Spectrum battles across the galaxy in the name of America in another issue that seems more like a one-shot than a sequential and dynamic cohesive story of any real substance. But with James Stokoe on art duties, it's more than enough to save another thin-on-plot comic book. Read Full Review

The bottom line is that there's enough here to keep the reader interested, but as for where it's all going, it certainly feels like there's an awful lot without a plan. Read Full Review

This is a comic book... definitely not everyone's cup of tea, and certainly not conducive to a miniseries that only has one issue left to go. Read Full Review
