This is a mighty fine way to end the character if it is, in fact, her last rodeo. This issue gives the character a new purpose, reflects on her past, and digs into who she is deep down too. For a character that is so zany, this book ends on a respectable and moving final statement on the character that'll likely be picked up and further explored someday. Read Full Review

The final page of Gwenpool Strikes Back tips its hat to the title's biggest inspiration, letting her walk away through a Looney-Tunes-style end-card. It's been an absurd ride, and while there wasn't a giant plot twist explaining its absurdity, the final serving of character work for Gwen is wholly satisfying. Characters like Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman have taken a back seat during this run so others could get the spotlight. And I'm glad that that's the case. But It was also great to see this moment play out with these characters. Their intertwined stories made it a more than earned scene. And I think it ultimately did its job, as it wound up taking Lex down a few pegs. Read Full Review

I thought this was nice. It had some good moments, while further addressing all the differences between various versions of the character. I'm glad she's a mutant now, also. Or is she? I guess we'll see. Overall, this was an odd miniseries. It definitely had its problems, with possibly too much focus on Gwenpool's cringiness. And I understand that's part of the point, but it's a hard sell for most people. I think the ending worked, despite feeling like there wasn't much build up to it. This series was a net positive, surely, but one that I'm conflicted about.

I won’t lie, I laughed at the “we will get along” shirt. I thought this was a good ending and I think that this comic was a mixed bag for me, but in the end I enjoyed it.

Y'all heaving the 1/10 bricks after taking "Gwen's a mutant now, LOL" at face value need to read slower, maybe. It's a survival gimmick and a lame one, yeah. That's why THE PROTAGONIST HATES IT AND DOESN'T FULLY ACCEPT IT. It gets her out of her battle royale predicament, but this series gives Gwen and her next author a giant blank check that can undo the Krakoa connection with a snap of her fingers. On the Devil's Advocate side, though, this whole miniseries is a sin against the Elmore Leonard precept to "leave out the parts people tend to skip." Five issues of superfluous connective tissue; if you actually had a GOOD Gwenpool story to tell, bridging to it from Unbelievable Gwenpool should have taken three pages, max.

I dub this: "How to destroy a character in a single issue." EDIT: What I mean, this book is textbook franchise washing. Ie. Let's make her more like the popular character she derives off of and her previous book worked very hard to distance her from (Deadpool), the readers who liked her FOR being different be damned, also let's slot her under the biggest franchise umbrella we can find (mutants; yeah, IRL mutant books are not in any way shape or form an underdog) even if we have to GUT the character and remove her interesting backstory which was a big part of what made her appealing to begin with. I wish this hollowed out husk to go up in the flames it deserves... but realistically it won't. People apparently like soulless heartless sh it. more

I despised this series with every fiber of my being and am glad to see it's over. If you wanted gwenpool without any of her charm fans have come to love, this book is for you. A derivative concept that became it's own unique entity driven back to her derivative roots at whiplash speeds, this book is for you. A series with humor that is 100% reliant on what ever was trending at the time, immortalizing the cringiest moments of 2019, this goddamn book is for you. Oh btw she's a mutant chilling on krakoa, but that's something some other writer will have to deal with. In conclusion: I want to bash my head in with a brick.
