You Don't Read Comics - Kellie Keener

    Sep 11, 2019

Gwenpool escaped her last misadventure by traveling off the pages and "flashbacking" her way to a better ending. But trapped in the Fantastic Four with no access to the page margins? It's gonna take some serious creativity.  Read Full Review

I love the merc with a mouth… but I think I love Gwenpool just as much. When you put those two together I'm thrilled, twice the fun with no one feeling left out. If you haven't already jumped into Gwenpool… this is a great chance to get onboard. Beautiful art, writing that will have you laughing all the way and just a lot of fun. Grab a copy now. Another fun and chaotic experience with Gwenpool in the bag. Add in Deadpool, a raucous "sex sells" issue and slick visuals, and it's easy to see this as the funniest book on the stands right now.  Read Full Review

Comics: The Gathering - Charles Martin

Gwenpool Strikes Back #2 is peak Deadpool rip-off-itude … but that is definitely not all that's going on. The confident creative team dives whole hog into the "LOL memes" style that Gwen, famously, doesn't care for. It's done so well, though, that we can enjoy the spectacle for what it is. It takes only a smidgen of faith to read on, certain that future twists will revisit the more complex Gwenpool we know and love and provide ironic context for this issue's absurdities. Word Of The Nerd - Cat Wyatt

A lot of this series could be interpreted as a commentary on the need to buy comics you love. And there is a certain point to that. The series with lower numbers (IE: Gwen's previous series) get canceled. And while that is a shame, it is also a fact of life. Unfortunately, the cancellation means something much darker for this quirky little lady" Read Full Review

The wackiness and wordiness of the first issue is balanced out much better by adding Deadpool as a supporting character, making for a stronger issue overall. Read Full Review

All in all, GSB continues to be an odd title. Its pop culture references (more in the first issue than this one) and humor constantly leaves me feeling that Im neither young or hip enough to be the target audience (do people still use hip?) Fourth wall breaking comics are not usually my cup of tea and something I feel can very easily be overdone. Read Full Review

I'm not sure if I got used to the pace of it, or it genuinely improved, but I like this issue a lot better.

My goodness! Most of this is coated with nothing but weird (equals gross), what's with all the bluntness in here? I know we are talking about Deadpool and Gwenpool in a single issue, but still... I'd like to think I enjoyed this 'Rated Teen+' comic but, in the end it's just plain okay. There's so much to storytelling, breaking the 4th wall is a blessing in itself but the writer doesn't seem to realise it yet. Anyhow this issue wasn't so bad cause the ideas were cool, often with so much potential. The art is entirely a different matter, David Baldeon killed it. I thought the end was interesting cause 'Unmasking Spidey' struck a nerve on Deadpool. Looking forward to something exciting in the next issue.

Not bad, it is funny how it feels legitimately desperate. I still have a problem with Gwenpool's characterization. She was never this Deadpoolish.

Deadpool: "Hey, this is just a comic book." Gwenpool: "Hey, this isn't just a comic book." How could the writer and editors so completely miss something so simple? Pretty art, tho.

At this point the series is becoming too overly self-indulgent. The dialog in this is terrible, I can't tell if it is purposeful but none of the 19 year olds that I've met talk this way.

It's just bad. It feels like the writer wanted to write a Deadpool story, but thought it better to add in details from the Wikipedia page for Gwenpool. I hope the series gets better, but seeing issue 3, I doubt it will.

Gwenpool used to be a deep character with unique abilities. Now she's a gimmick with the vocabulary of a tweet.
