The stars aligned for this book to exist, at this time, with these creators, and it would be a mistake to not be reading every issue as it comes out. It’s early days in Ewings run but it already looks set to be an incredible run. Clever storytelling techniques from not just Ewing but Cabal and Blee set this above other runs on Guardians. The best comics have a creative team firing on all cylinders, this one has them collaborating so closely the final product is nothing short of genius. Ewing uses GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY #2 to pack a huge punch. This issue is straight-up wild! You'll read it and afterward genuinely feel blown away by the events that transpired. And if nonstop action isn't entirely your thing, Ewing introduces some pretty creepy elements as well surrounding Hephaestus and his Automatons, which seem ripped right from a horror flick. Bought both #1 and #2 so gonna post the same review. This is a stellar book. As others point out it's bombastic and not decompressed at all, good art, good action, good thrills!

Prelude: Ewing started GotG off perfectly last issue. Let's see if he can do it again here. The Good: Love Peter in this issue. Feels like Abnett Star-Lord, less MCU Star-Lord. I love the Olympians in this issue. Really liked Heather and Phyla-Vell's moment. That ending was great. Loved Cabal's art. Works so well. The Bad: Nothing. Conclusion: Ewing, you've done it again.

This is a really great comic, all around. I'll just choose a random part of it to compliment... The subtle character work with Phyla-Vell and Moondragon. Their private mindspace is constructed from the moment Phyla-Vell proposed to Moondragon. This is never explicitly stated, but we can see that Phyla has a ring box. I thought that was neat.

How great is it to read a series that doesn't feel decompressed at all. So much has happened in the past 2 issues that other writers would have taken a dozen to stretch out. The plot is also very fun and unique, I love how everyone is written and the fun action that takes place. The twist at the end is obviously bait, but I'm still intrigued to see the resolution. The art is also amazing, this is shaping up to be a great run.

Excellent, excellent! The issue never lets up and is full of good action, good art and good character beats. The ending is a shocker so early on for the series but bodes very well for what comes. Great read!

Greatly enjoyed the second issue compared to the first. It made me add it to my pull list right away as I was hesitant after issue 1. The pace of Ewing's ideas are a great. Add Cabal's art and designs with Blee colors and it was fantastic to look at.

The Guardians defeat Olympus and rescue Hercules, but the "victory" comes at a fearsome cost. It's an epic story -- it feels, in a good way, like the creators are striving to bring a "Dawn of X" level of import to the Guardians -- but the polish necessary for all-time greatness is lacking. It's still a hell of a good comic and a very enjoyable read, though.

A Lot is going on here but somehow its not confusing and pretty enjoyable. I dont care for a Rocket but still felt like the last page was deserved. Art is great this issue exciting to look at with notable precision. Hercules is a little corny for me and the antagonists still dont feel deep. Noh has the most potential in my eyes and I am really excited to see Ewing write him. Still not fully grabbed in by this series but this issue would keep anyone reading.
