Guardians of the Galaxy #5 puts Hela in the driver's seat of the plot. That's bad news for the galaxy and all its guardians, dark and original-flavour. While this issue isn't much for characterization, it wrings dramatic, transformative developments out of the plot. It's satisfying in itself, and it promises plenty of desperate excitement to come. This first arc in Guardians of the Galaxy has been a lot of fun. Now that we are nearing the end of it I am exciting to see how it wraps up and what comes next. My only lingering issue is that there are still aspects of the characters here that are obscured for new readers. This book was a very quick read! Unfortunately, wanted to get more about the team we have but only ones who talked were the ones who have been doing most of the talk so far in this story. They are few characters who I know nothing about that I was actually looking forward to get invested in. I will admit the page with Cosmic Ghost Rider about to lay waste did look wicked! Hoping to see more of him. The art on some panels looked good while others looked alright, nothing I would brag about. The twist kind of saw coming. Prelude: Guardians has been either very good or great so far. Let's see if Cates can bring the great standard the series had in it's first two issues back. The Good: I like the ties to Cates other stories. Beta Ray Bill and Lockjaw were great. I like Hela's show of strength. About time she was back in the story. Shaw's art like most of this arc is great. The twist was good. The Bad: Nothing. Conclusion: Cates brings the series back to where it was before and exceeds it even. A great issue that I loved the whole way through.

Probably the best issue of the series so far. Cates progresses the story forward with a great twist, while also giving hints to his other books as well. Marvel Cosmic is back.

THE GOOD: -Every time I see this artwork, it continues to impress me. -The character interactions here are golden. -Don't worry Lockjaw. I was excited to see you. -That splash page with Hela and Gladiator is really quite awesome. -Cosmic Ghost Rider is still perfect. -Hela is a fantastic villain. -Oh man, Eros. Oh man. -That ending is all kinds of bad. In a good way. THE BAD: -I don't really like how this issue brushed off the last issue's ending so easily, even if some humor was added.

Great art, dialogue was witty and all the characters sounded important. The story is enertaining and cool to see the new Guardians team so props to Donny Gates.

This is a pretty dang good Thanos comic. But it's supposed to be a Guardians of the Galaxy comic.
