If you've been along for Thompson's ride on Captain Marvel, you'll love this issue. It builds on previous stories and continues to set a high bar for dialogue and good ideas. Usual. This is a word that carries some negative connotations. This book has been a solid book for quite a while now. As such it is sometimes hard to appreciate a book that maintains quality rather than excel for periods of time. But appreciate it you should as Thompson's familiarity with the character ensures that there is great storytelling in every issue. Don't fail to see if for all the other Marvel books, trying to be this good, on the rack. Read Full Review

I really enjoy the fact that we get to revisit this future timeline, because it gives Captain Marvel a world completely without any continuity hangups to get in the way. It's like an in continuity WHAT IF" comic, or reverse Old Man Logan giving many opportunities for new characters and challenges. Read Full Review

Captain Marvel #22 was a solid start to a new story arc. Kelly Thompson gives this issue a aura of being a fresh start after Captain Marvel took part in the recent Empyre event. Bringing in the setting that was seen in Captain Marvel: The End was also a nice change of pace to create new dynamics between Carol Danvers and other fellow superheroes. Read Full Review

Captain Marvel can't catch a break even when she is in a good mood. A new adventure is beginning for her but it turns out it's an adventure she has already had. Or at least a future version of her has already had. Can she figure out who is behind bringing her to this strange new world and help her new/old friends? Read Full Review

For a long time, i did not like this run, but with time i got used to it and i just let myself enjoy it and it's actually not that bad, even pretty good for what it is. A perfectly fine but not great run. Thompson writes Carol in very likable and down to Earth way IMO. Even here in the start of issue we can see that, when she talks to War Machine or Spider-Woman. Every bit of those scenes felt so genuine to me: the relationship between the characters, their dialogue and overall the way they acted. The premise here is good. Clearly there was a lot of thought put into the setting , but for a first issue, too much things happened . Some of the exposition felt really unnecessary, heavy and unnatural, but still for the most part the dialog ue was on point. It just moved too fast, for my taste. The characters are still well-written and the hints of mystery are great and very well put. The Art and coloring on point too. The ending, again i felt that it came too early, but it got me interested. I'm genuinely exited for the next chapter of this arc, there is heavy amounts of potential here. more

The beginning was the highlight of the issue. Kelly Thompson writes these characters well. The rest of the issue is basically reestablishing the status quo from Captain Marvel: The End earlier this year, and it's not bad, but I find myself wanting more of the beginning of the issue rather than another arc that essentially bypasses the actual status quo of the series. Like the first arc, like Empyre. What we got was good, don't get me wrong. This is more of a preference thing.

Carol is abruptly yoinked out of a UFO investigation mission with her current supporting cast and plopped into the world of Captain Marvel: The End. That wasn't a world I particularly wanted to revisit, but strong character work and dynamic art make me happy to be there. I'm on board for whatever future AU shenanigans come next.
