While Captain Marvel #20 was an overall enjoyable story, its becoming harder to care about the stakes if you arent following the rest of the Empyre event. Some questions cant be answered by just reading this story, like what do the Cotati want, and why are they such a threat to Earth? Readers shouldnt have to follow multiple tie-ins and the titular event comic to keep up with the characters theyre personally interested in. This isnt the fault of the creative team behind Captain Marvel #20, theyre doing their best to keep Carols story entertaining, but its going to be a huge relief when the Empyre event finally ends, and Captain Marvels story can go back to standing largely on its own.  Read Full Review

Carol closes her first Accuser case by finding the true culprit for the damage her half-sister was blamed for. But speaking of her half-sister, Lauri-Ell wastes no time stirring up fresh trouble in New York. Plotwise it's a straightforward climax, but impeccable dialogue and some truly terrific art elevate it into a noteworthy read.

A very fun issue. Thompson is well suited for this book. I dropped it 10 issues ago because it seemed to lose its momentum with the VS Avengers story. Saw good reviews so I decided to see what's up an it's pretty good even without following Empyre. Cory smith's art is nice too. I like the modern looks with the classic feel Especially the way the fight scenes are. War machine's armor looks phenomenal. I'm not sure if Benedetto's inks are the ones bringing that style out but Bonvillain's colors are always a treat.

Another good issue. So now after the fun side trip we had with Lauri-ell and company, Carol and her " Corps " are now actually trying to investigate who was behind the 9/11 styled attack of K'in-Al. The writing, overall its good. Thompson is able to handle some funny, quirky humor throughout, but some dialogue could also come off as corny, edge-lord jumbo. Art was fire like usually. The action and defeat of Wastrel was kinda underwhelming for what seemed to be a exciting fight between him and Carol. Liked that ending though, Luari-ell is a great character.
